PULSE2 APPLICATION GREEK GODS IS AN APPLE STAFF FAVORITE!

Shan Sadiq and I started working on Pulse2 as a full time business in June 2008. Since then our business has grown in leaps and bounds. Pulse2.com has been our primary revenue source up until we started designing iPhone applications. We started designing iPhone applications in January 2009. And one of the latest developments regarding that aspect of our business is that Apple has decided to feature our Greek Gods application [iTunes link] as a Staff Favorite within the Education section. Now Greek Gods is a top 10 application within the Education category of iTunes.

Greek Gods is an application that has a database of all the Greek Gods and a description of them. There is a description of over 600 Greek Gods in our database. To navigate around the application, there is an intuitive wheel-based user interface. There is also a feature that allows you to bookmark Greek Gods. Search is built into the application too. A majority of our customer ratings for this iPhone application is 5 out of 5 stars.

Some of the features that we plan to add to this application in the form of updates include improved search, categorized Greek Gods, and Greek Gods quizzes. We also plan to increase the database size of the application so that Greek heroes are also included. This application is extremely useful for those who take humanities and art classes for school or if you have a keen interest in mythology.

One of the customers that reviewed Greek Gods said “Awesome resource for my World Mythology class. Allows me to understand the motives of the Gods.” We highly recommend that you check out our application and we appreciate Apple for helping us promote this application. If you have any feedback for our application, let us know in the comments.

Check out our other 24 applications by visiting the Pulse2 page on iTunes [iTunes link].

Diggnation Host Alex Albrecht Designs Duel iPhone App Game

Diggnation host Alex Albrecht hired some iPhone application developers to work on various projects. His most recent application that was added to the iTunes App Store is called Duel [iTunes link]. He released the game through a company called App Dragon.

To play Duel with a friend, both of you need iPhones and need to connect to each other through Bluetooth. After that, there is a countdown and you have to point your iPhone at your friend horizontally similar to how people in the Wild Wild West did it. Alex Albrecht was a co-host of former TechTV show The Screen Savers.

Tapulous Earns About $1 Million Per Month From App Store

Tapulous hit a rough patch in September 2008 when the company lost their whole development team, but they were able to quickly recover.   Today the company has about 20 employees and makes about $1 million per month.  This further proves that game developer companies can make some solid revenues from the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store.

Tapulous’ game Tap Tap Revenge has been installed about 20 million times and has been played by gamers around 600 million times.  comScore even predicted that Tap Tap Revenge has been installed by about one-third of all Apple application users.  Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem believes that mobile app commerce is going to see tremendous growth over the next two years.

“It’s going to be big and all of a sudden people are going to say, ‘holy cow, where did those guys come from?’” stated Decrem in an interview with Reuters.  Tapulous raised a total of $2.8 million from venture capitalists.  Khosla Ventures and Marc Benioff (Salesforce.com CEO) are two major investors in Tapulous. Tapulous earns revenue through the game purchase prices and in-app song downloads.

RedLaser iPhone Application Hits Over $1 Million In Revenue

RedLaser App Screenshot
Occipital has made over $1 million in revenue from their iPhone application RedLaser. The RedLaser application has been in the top 5 of the Apple App Store for over 3 months now. Occipital did not have a marketing budget whatsoever. The RedLaser application grew with the help of word-of-mouth. Occipital co-founder Jeff Powers said that RedLaser was released this past May, but it did not have any traction.

Occipital released an update shortly after that made the application work properly. After that RedLaser really started growing. RedLaser [iTunes link] barely received any press after the update was made. Occipital has only 2 employees and sells about 6,000 of their application per day with a $1.99 price. The Wall Street Journal and Martha Stewart recently gave the application some publicity. Occipital claims that Martha Stewart’s publicity helped increase sales by about 1,000.

What does RedLaser do? The application scans barcodes using the iPhone camera and searches for the item across many e-retailers. Price comparisons are provided shortly after scanning the item. It is like the Shazam of shopping.
