There are rumors that Apple is working on redesigning the MacBook Air. Apple is aiming a complete revamp to all of their notebook lines sometime this year. The MacBook Pros would be discontinued and the the new ones would be in the style of the Air with a super thin design, no optical rives, and centered around portability.

Rumors abound about a new Mac notebook in the works: is it a MacBook Air? Is it a Macbook Pro? MacRumors reports that the laptop is already in late-stage testing and is an ultra-thin, 15″ version of a MacBook. The new notebook follows a lot of Apple’s latest moves, from the tech update the newest MacBook Airs received to the new Mac Minis that don’t have optical drives.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced a new line of MacBook Air laptops. The new line of MacBook Airs have a new generation of processors, Thunderbolt I/O technology, flash storage, backlit keyboard, and the Mac OS X Lion operating system. The new MacBook Air starts at $999 and is available for order today.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to release a new line of MacBook Air computers next week. Several news websites expected the release to be this week, but they were “off by a week” according to a source with AllThingsD. The new line of MacBook Airs are rumored to have Sandy Bridge processors, Thunderbolt port, backlit keyboards, and 128GB/256GB flash storage options.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is preparing to launch a new round of ultra-low voltage processors that is based on the Sandy Bridge technology. These processors are ideal for the upcoming MacBook Air laptops. This past week there was a trio of Core i5 and i7 models that leaked. All three processors would be dual-core hyperthreaded processors with graphic cores. The graphic cores range from 350MHz to 1.2GHz. Below are the specs of the processors:

(NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to begin shipping 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch MacBook Air models that feature Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt in late May for a launch that is expected to happen between June and July. Quanta Computer is doing the assembly, Catcher Technology is doing the casings, Shin Zu Shing is supplying the hinges, Auras Technology is doing the thermal modules, and Simplo Technology and Dynapack are supplying the batteries. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has shipped around 1.1 million of the new generation of MacBook Air devices according to Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Ming-Chi came up with the numbers by using channel checks in Asia. That means that the new MacBook Air is one of the fastest-selling Mac computers in Apple’s history. Concord is also estimating that Apple will ship around 700,000 MacBook Airs this quarter. [BGR]
