He will have a major focus on the “recommendation technology” at StumbleUpon. Balogh will also be extending StumbleUpon’s development of the open-source Hadoop database HBase. Balogh will report to StumbleUpon CEO Garrett Camp. StumbleUpon has 15 million monthly users and hits one billion recommendations per month. Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) CTO Ari Balogh stated last Wednesday to expect further acquisitions from the search engine company. They are looking for acquisitions that will enable them to become more involved in social networking.
According to Balogh, the company has been talking to various companies about partnerships in the social networking space. “I can guarantee you there will be some acquisitions and we will do some stuff in house,” stated Balogh.
