Yesterday at the CES conference, ASUS showcased four new tablet devices. Three of them have Android on it and the other has Windows 7. You will know which one runs on Windows 7 when you see the prices:

- ASUS Eee Pad MeMO – starting at $499
- ASUS Eee Pad Slider – starting at $499
- ASUS Eee Pad Transformer – starting at $399
- ASUS Eee Slate – starting at $999

If you have not figured it out by now, the Eee Slate runs on Windows 7. But it does have some pretty good specifications. The Slate has a Core i5-470UVM processor and 4GB of memory. Another problem here is that Windows 7 on the tablet device is not customized. Stick an operating system not exactly designed for touch screens on a tablet and see what happens. Android is actually built for touch and has an app store with around 200,000 apps.

ASUS has decided out of nowhere that they want to unleash a new smartphone. ASUS, best known for producing some good netbooks has launched the P835 WVGA smartphone with Windows Mobile 6.1 built-in. Two of the main features of the phone are a 3.5″ WVGA (800×480 touchscreen) and HSUPA 7.2Mbps support. The P835 comes preloaded with Opera Mobile and has a Glide user interface. The battery life has about 6-7 hours of talk time. The processor in the phone is a 528MHz Qualcomm 7201A with 4GB of internal storage and a microSDHC card slot. The phone comes with Bluetooth, USB 2.0, aGPS, and GSM compatibility. The camera sports 5 megapixels with AutoFocus. Wi-Fi is ready in the phone with the ability to connect up to 10 devices.
