AT&T is planning to bring fast WiFi to future flights using an air-to-ground network in the U.S. based on 4G LTE standards. AT&T could have the network up and running as soon as 2015 if all goes according to planned. AT&T is partnering with Honeywell on this initiative. Honeywell will be providing “hardware and service capabilities.”

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that its LTE network has been expanded to five new networks. Now AT&T’s LTE coverage is available for 280 million Americans. Here are the 5 new markets:
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Chernin Group have formed a $500 million joint venture to build a streaming video service. AT&T and Chernin will be pooling resources to acquire and launch over-the-top video services, including video-on-demand businesses that would compete against services like Netflix and Hulu.
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is going to compete head-on with Google’s broadband service, Google Fiber, in the ultra high-speed gigabit network market. Today AT&T announced it has started talking to municipalities in at least 21 major metro areas to bring the AT&T U-Verse GigaPower fiber network to these communities.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is investing over $2.6 billion in its wireless and wired networks in the Dallas/Fort Worth area between 2011 and 2013. This investment brought upgrades to enhance speed, reliability, coverage and performance for residents and business customers.
A couple of days ago, it was announced that Netflix is going to pay Comcast for faster video delivery to customers. A day later, the CEO of Verizon revealed that the telecommunications giant is also in talks with Comcast about a similar deal. Now AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) wants to make a deal with Comcast too.
AT&T has ended a promotion that paid $450 for T-Mobile customers to switch to their network. The program launched on January 3rd, which was a response to T-Mobile’s campaign to reward people to switch. The promotion ended January 31st and pointed out that it was a limited-time offer. AT&T still has other promotions such as a $100 discount for customers that want to add an additional line and there is lower pricing for some family plan customers. T-Mobile continues to offer discounts for contract customers that switch over from another network.
