Barnes & Noble has announced their fiscal second quarter financial results. In the results B&N revealed that they have sold double the amount of Nook Android tablets over the four day Black Friday/Thanksgiving weekend across all channels when compared to the similar period last year. This does not include the new Nook HD and HD+ tablets since these tablets shipped outside of the second fiscal quarter.
Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet Posts
Barnes & Noble is getting ready to launch an 8GB tablet on February 22nd. The current Nook tablet costs $50 more than the Kindle Fire. According to documentation leaked to The Verge, the upcoming 8GB Nook tablet appears to be the same as the current $249 tablet, but with less storage space. The less storage space indicates that Barnes & Noble will match the $200 price point that the Amazon.com Kindle Fire uses. The documentation revealed that Walmart will be selling the device starting at 12:01AM on Wednesday Feb. 22nd.
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) had recently issued the Q2 2012 earnings report and they revealed the NOOK business revenue hit $220 million. The NOOK Tablet has become Barnes & Noble’s fastest selling device to date. However the company hit a net loss of $6.6 million this past quarter.

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has announced that they have launched a fully redesigned app for the Nook and Kindle Fire tablet. The new interface for the tablets has twice as many movies and TV shows as before. The app features the ability to swipe through rows of titles featuring larger artwork. The Nook Tablet has an “HD viewing experience” and it has a 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The Tablet weighs under a pound and the display is sourced from LG. It has an IPS unit with a 180-degree viewing angle. It can play up to 9 hours of 1080p video on a single charge.
