Rick Champagne Buys The 1960s Batmobile For $4.6 Million At An Auction

The 1960s Batmobile has been sold for $4.6 million at a collector car auction on Saturday.  The car was previously owned by the car customizer George Barris.  The Batmobile was sold at collector car auction company Barrett Jackson’s annual auction near their Scottsdale, Arizonia headquarters.  The final price includes a 10% sales commission for the sellers.  Many imitation Batmobiles were built in the last several years and many of them are hard to distinguish with the original.  Rick Champagne, the owner of a logistics company in Tempe, Arizona was happy to buy the car.  He identified himself as the buyer when interviewed with Speed TV after the sale.  The car will be put in his living room.

James Holmes Called Batman Spinoff Director Diggity Dave Before Shooting

“Diggity” Dave Aragon was known for customizing cars for the MTV show “Pimp My Ride.”  Aragon directed a Batman spinoff where a young vigilante Batman shot down evil doers.  You can watch a trailer of the spin off here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP1TXnP2GSk.  It turns out that James Holmes contacted Aragon about the Batman spinoff and sounded excited about it.  Aragon revealed the details in an interview with CBS L.A. radio affiliate KNX 1070.

Gunman Kills 12, Wounds 59 At Dark Knight Rises Screening In Colorado

Note: As we gather more information about this case, we will update this article.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims in this tragedy and their families.

A suspect by the name of James Holmes is in custody after he opened fire at a midnight screening of the Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colorado.  Twelve people were killed and fifty people were wounded.  Witnesses at the theater said that the gunman threw noxious gas before opening fire at people in the theater, which made escaping difficult.
