Beyond Oblivion Music Startup Shuts Down
Beyond Oblivion was preparing to launch in 2012, but ended up shutting down instead before they had even launched their product. Beyond Oblivion was planning on launching an unlimited music service called Boinc. Users would get unlimited streaming and downloading access through the Boinc music library for a lifetime with the device that you would have to buy along with the service. Social music and sharing features would be included as well. Why did the company shut down? Possibly because of their inability to negotiate music labels for licensing deals. Music Company Beyond Oblivion Receives Investment From News Corp.
News Corporation (NYSE:NWS) invested in Beyond Oblivion as part of a second round of funding worth about $10 million. The funding was revealed in a filing with the SEC. Beyond Oblivion is working on a business that will allow consumer electronic makers to pre-load music on devices.
