Google Encourages Bloglines Users To Join Google Reader
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) said that they were sad to hear about Bloglines shutting down on October 1, but they encouraged former users to join Google Reader. “We know that nothing will be quite like Bloglines in the hearts of its users, but if you’re looking for another online feed reader, we encourage you to give Reader a shot,” said Mihai Parparita, founding member of the Google Reader team.

Bloglines Shutting Down On October 1
Bloglines, a property owned by IAC/InterActiveCorp (NASDAQ:IACI), is an RSS reader and aggregator service that launched in June 2003 by Mark Fletcher. In February 2005, he sold the service to Ask.com/InterActiveCorp. At the time, it was hosting over 200 million searchable blog articles. This past week, Ask.com announced that Bloglines would be shut down on October 1, 2010.
