Steve Ballmer of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has just hit his 11th anniversary as the CEO. Instead Microsoft announced that the next Windows version would support ARM processors and System-on-a-Chip technology. Ballmer did not announce a tablet at CES which may have been a smart move because the media and analysts would constantly compare Microsoft to the Apple iPad. Ballmer knows that announcing a subpar tablet product would negatively affect Wall Street expectations of the company. It is better to announce it when such a device is high quality, just like the Microsoft Kinect. What do you think about Ballmer’s time at the company? Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) President of Server and Tools Bob Muglia said in an e-mail today that he is stepping down this summer. No replacement is known as of yet. Muglia worked at Microsoft for 22 years and joined from Rolm in 1988. He was the first product manager of the SQL Server. The Servers and Tools business is Microsoft’s third biggest business as it makes about $14.9 billion in annual revenue (as of 2010). Below is a memo that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer sent to employees:

Microsoft President of servers and tools Bob Muglia clarified Microsoft’s position on Silverlight. The PDC conference in Redmond, Washington last week in Microsoft Silverlight and about 100,000 developers watched the event. Muglia intended to emphasize three points.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) held their Professional Developers Conference this week and Silverlight 5 was not talked about much. However Microsoft did discuss their commitment to HTML5 consistently.
