Capcom blatantly copied a game created by Twisted Pixel. Capcom created a game called MaXpolosion that looks very similar to Twisted Pixel’s Splosion Man. “We’re definitely not going to pursue legal action,” stated Twisted Pixel CEO Michael Wilford in an interview with Joystiq. “While I think the similarities are pretty nauseating, we’re too small to take on a company like Capcom. That, and we owe them one for inventing Mega Man, so we’ll let them slide.”

Wilford said that his company needs to keep their heads down so that Capcom has something to steal again next year. Wilford also sent out a tweet that said that the “best part” is that Twisted Pixel originally pitched the idea of Splosion Man to Capcom, but the game publisher passed on them.

In most cases, popular arcade games are not given release dates for PC versions, but this is the first time Capcom made a release date for the port.

The PC version of the game will even get extra features. Some of the new features include “new special moves” and new shaders to mirror the aesthetics of trailers in the game. The new shaders include sumi-e ink, posterization, and watercolor. Capcom’s Bionic Commando game will arrive for the PC in July, but Resident Evil 5 will arrive on computer screens later this year.

One of the most addictive games for the Dreamcast was Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. The game was popular on arcade machines before landing into video game consoles. I remember all of the blisters I got from playing the game back in 2002. Now the game will be arriving on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network this summer.

Capcom made the announcement yesterday and the port is based on the Dreamcast code itself. There will be online play available for the game of course. This will make it more fun so that you can actually find out how good you are. Here’s a hint when doing a combined super move make sure to have Cable, Iron Man, and Red Riding Hood.

Above is a video of some crazy gamers doing power moves against their opponents.

In Japan, Resident Evil 5 sold about 400,000 copies. As the game is growing in popularity, Capcom has decided to ship out 4 million copies of Resident Evil 5 across the world. This number does not indicate the number of games sold. The demo version of Resident Evil 5 was downloaded about 4 million times as well.

“Thanks to the company’s proprietary engine, the MT Framework, Capcom was able to make Resident Evil 5 a multi-platform title, giving a vast number of players the opportunity to enjoy the game,” stated Capcom.

The whole Resident Evil franchise has shipped over 40 million copies across the globe since the first game was introduced in 1996.

Last month Capcom was victimized by UBS last month for an order that did not go through. UBS made a $31 billion order in Capcom stock, but canceled it. They meant to order 31 million Yen worth of stock ($314,000) instead.

The Union Bank of Switzerland made a pretty massive error. The Swiss bank company made a $31 billion order ($3 trillion yen) in convertible bonds in the Japanese game company. This deal would have been the biggest on the Tokyo stock exchange, but it turns out the order was made on accident. The amount was wrong due to a computer error.

In actuality the investment amount was supposed to be 31 million yen ($314,000). On the official Capcom blog, the company revealed that they were ready to do a happy dance when they first heard amount the investment.

“The official Capcom happy-dance began when we heard that financial titan UBS AG placed an order for 3 TRILLION yen (that’s 31 billion bucks!) in Capcom stock yesterday. We were unfortunately forced to reveal that there, um, isn’t ¥3 trillion worth of Capcom stock for sale, so they revised their order to a measly ¥31 million.”

Regardless of the error, at least Capcom will have a great year with the release of Street Fighter IV and it sounds like The Legend of Chun Li movie is doing okay. Capcom is also about to launch Resident Evil 5 on March 13. UBS apologized for their error.

Capcom Co. is having a great week. Last week The Legend of Chun Li hit theaters and Street Fighter IV has shipped 2 million units across the world for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It is not yet known how many units were actually sold, but it is expected to do very well judging by the hype. Street Fighter IV has been released in North America, Europe, and Japan. A PC version should be coming in June.

The first Street Fighter game was introduced in 1987. The second Street Fighter game was a smashing success in 1991. “The series revolutionized combat systems in games, and established the fighting game genre. Since then, Street Fighter has been a global hit, selling over 500,000 arcade machines and 27 million console games,” stated Capcom.
