YouTube Co-Founder Chad Hurley Is Working On A New Video Service

Chad Hurley, a co-founder of YouTube, is working on a new video website.  “I wish [South by Southwest] was a month later because I could unveil the new product,” said Hurley while talking to Google Ventures partner Kevin Rose at the conference.  Hurley added that the product is “primarily video-based…and gives flexibility for people to work together and create content,” as quoted by AdWeek.

YouTube Founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen Working On New Project Called Zeen


After selling YouTube to Google, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen launched a company called AVOS. AVOS acquired Delicious from Yahoo! and revamped it. Now AVOS is working on a new project called Zeen, which allows people to “discover and create beautiful magazines.” Currently the service is not available, but you can secure a username. Multimedia sharing will be a core part of the service and a browser bookmarklet will be available with the service.

Stop Online Piracy Act is a bill that was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives in October 2011 by Lamar Smith (R-TX). This Act would allow the Department of Justice and copyright holders to seek court orders against websites accused of copyright infringement that would prevent online ad networks and payment facilitators from doing business with those websites. Opponents in this bill believe that this is Internet censorship. Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, PayPal co-founder Elon Musk, and Yahoo! co-founder Jerry Yang oppose the bill. Their letter will appear as a paid ad in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other newspapers.

YouTube Founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen Preparing To Roll Out New Delicious UI Later This Year


This past April YouTube co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen acquired link-sharing service Delicious.com from Yahoo! The two are prepared to launch a new version of Delicious.com later this year. Delicious is one of the most popular bookmarking services today. Delicious allows people to save and bookmark links from the Internet for future reference and organizing them using tags. Personally I am not a fan of Delicious as I like Google Bookmarks better.

YouTube co-founders Steve Chen and Chad Hurley has announced that they have acquired Tap11. Tap11 is a real-time social media business intelligence platform company. This is Hurley and Chen’s second biggest acquisition within the last month. Recently they acquired Delicious from Yahoo! Tap11 will become a subsidiary of Chen and Hurley’s company AVOS.

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) has sold off Delicious (formerly known as Del.icio.us) to YouTube co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen. Hurley and Chen will continue to operate Delicious as it is for the next couple of months as users will be able to sign up for new accounts. Hurley made several hundred million on the sale of YouTube to Google and he married the daughter of Internet billionaire Jim Clark.
