JiWire Raises $20 Million In New Round Of Funding

JiWire is a mobile ad company that has raised $20 million in a round of funding made by Trident Capital, Comcast Interactive Capital, DFJ, Panorama Capital, and Norwest Venture Partners. JiWire has raised a total of $45 million in funding thus far. JiWire has a location-based ad platform that runs on WiFi through 40 public WiFi networks. Last year JiWire acquired location based mobile shopping company NearbyNow. [TechCrunch]
Confirmed: Flipboard Raises $50 Million At A $200 Million Valuation

Flipboard CEO Mike McCue has confirmed that the company has raised $50 million at a $200 million valuation. Insight Venture Partners led this round of funding. “We’re obviously thrilled, because we think it confirms our focus that people want a beautifully designed way to interact with content and to share it,” stated McCue. “And there is a lot more to come–on a scale of one to 10, we’re just at a two or three.”

Vitrue Raises $17 Million In Series C

Vitrue is a social media management company that has raised $17 million in Series C funding. Scale Venture Partners and Advent Venture Partners led this round of funding. Existing investors General Catalyst Ventures, Comcast Interactive, and Dance Ventures also participated. Some of Vitrue’s customers include Ford, Intel, MTV, Best Buy, and McDonald’s. Vitrue will be using the funding for expansion. [Mashable]
SB Nation Raises $10.5 Million

SB Nation is a sports and news blog company that is based in Washington D.C. The company has raised a $10.5 million Series C round led by Khosla Ventures. SB Nation previously raised $13 million in funding from Accel Partners, Allen & Company, Comcast Interactive Capital, and several angel investors.

BNI Video Raises $16 Million From Time Warner, Comcast, Cisco, Etc.

BNI Video is a company that helps video service providers in the telecommunications industry manage video delivery. This is why some telecommunications companies got together to put money into BNI. Cisco Systems, Comcast Interactive Capital, Charles River Ventures, Castile Ventures, and Time Warner Cable invested $16 million into BNI.
