TripIt Launches App For Kindle Fire

TripIt is a mobile trip organizer company that is run by Concur Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNQR). TripIt has recently launched an application for the Kindle Fire. The TripIt Kindle Fire app lets you organize important trip details like confirmation numbers, maps, and directions.

“The compact size of Kindle Fire and its growing ecosystem of apps make it a solid match for travelers,” said Gregg Brockway, Executive Vice President and General Manager of TripIt in a press release. “Tablets are becoming a popular choice for life on the road, and we’re excited to take part.”

TripIt currently has apps available on the iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone. Concur had acquired TripIt for $120 million this past January.

Concur Investing $40 Million Into Online Travel Portal Cleartrip

Concur Technologies is investing $40 million in Indian online travel website Cleartrip.com. Cleartrip is similar to Kayak.com, but intended for the travel market in India. Cleartrip launched in 2006 and they have received venture capital from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, DVJ, DAG Ventures, and Sherpalo Ventures.

“As a global technology provider, we understand that it’s critical to focus on the local needs of each market in which we operate,” stated Concur CEO Steve Singh in a statement. “In partnership with Cleartrip, Concur plans to leverage the synergies of our combined technologies to help us expand our offerings, extend our reach, and make business travel easier for the millions of travelers in India.”

Concur Technologies’ S. Steven Singh & Rajeev Singh Misrepresent Education Background

A couple of executives at Concur Technologies has accidentally slipped in reporting their educational background. Concur confirmed in company filings from 1998 to January 2007 that CEO S. Steve Singh did not actually graduate from the University of Michigan. Singh did attend the school for some time though.

Although the CEO’s education was misrepresented, the company issued a statement stating that they have full confidence in Singh.

Steve Singh wasn’t the only board member that had incorrect education representation in the company’s documents. His brother Rajeev Singh reportedly had a degree from Kettering University in Flint, Michigan in the S-1 for the company’s IPO. However the company’s website indicated that Rajeev had a degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.

Concur Technologies is corporate travel and expense management company. The company builds software for both of these services.
