Police in California have arrested Temecula residents Brian Leach and Jose Reyes Gomez (photo above) on August 5th on suspicion of dealing a large amount of crystal methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jason Calvert, a sheriff’s detective, reviewed ads on Craigslist to find people selling controlled substances and he came across an ad from a man saying that he was looking for a female to party with “Tina.” According to Calvert, “Tina” is the street name for methamphetamine.

Calvert and the suspect began to e-mail each other back and forth to make plans for meeting up. The suspect told Calvert that he had “really, really good Tina.” When Leach got out of truck, he texted Calvert. Murrieta Police Department Special Enforcement Team Detectives went up to the suspect and Calvert asked him if he was in possession of methamphetamine. Leach admitted that he had a pipe in his truck.

Methamphetamine crystals were found in Leach’s truck. The suspect also told Calvert that he had “big connects” and access to large amounts of methamphetamine. When Calvert went through Leach’s cell p[hone, he found several text messages regarding the sale of crystal meth.

One of the texts was from a person named Joe that was waiting at the Del Taco on Rancho California Road “with the stuff for you and what I owe you." Leach told Calvert that Joe drives a black Cadillac Escalade. Calvert and the other detectives drove to Del Taco and arrested Joe when they found an ounce of meth and over $600 in cash.

Sort of reminds you of Breaking Bad, doesn't it?

Craigslist founder Craig Newmark has launched a new website called Craigconnects. In a press release, it appears that Craigconnects is intended to serve as a platform for social responsibility and promote sustainable development organizations. “I guess I got myself a ‘bully pulpit’ of sorts that I don’t really want or need, but it’s good for getting the word out about people of good will who get stuff done,” said Newmark. “It’s a voice for the grassroots, the rank-and-file, for people who never had a voice until now.” Through Craigconnects, Newmark can be solicited as a speaker and traditional media source. You can visit Craigconnects at: http://www.craigconnects.org.

Gawker had posted an article yesterday about Rep. Chris Lee. Lee is a married Republican that had posted pictures of himself topless on Craigslist. Gawker also published an e-mail correspondence between him and a 34-year old woman he met after she put an ad in the “Women for Men” section. Three hours and a half hours after Gawker published the article, Chris Lee resigned from his position.

Gawker blogger Maureen O’Connor broke the story and was interviewed on Piers Morgan. A 34 year old woman reached out to Gawker saying that she had “a crazy chance encounter with a congressman.” Check out the video below:
A Brooklyn man named Jose Perez, 22, went on Craigslist and put a salvaged vehicle up for sale. The car was a 2004 Nissan Maxima and he used the title from another vehicle to forge the title for the Maxima. Perez also used a different name on the title and bill of sale.

Perez wrote that he wanted to sell the car for $7,500 but a buyer was able to haggle it down to $6,000. Perez and the buyer met at a mechanic shop. However one hour later, the buyer called Perez and told him that he was sold a bad car and he wanted a refund. Perez refused to give a refund and stole the vehicle outside of the buyer’s home.

The Maxima was found in Brooklyn and it was being driven by someone else. Police arrested Perez on Sunday night. Perez is being charged with second-degree forgery, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and false advertising. This one is going in the Hall of Shame.

Online classifieds service Craigslist has shut down their adult services section across the world. Human trafficking groups have been proactively pressuring Craigslist to remove the adult services section for years now.

It appears that Craigslist recently took down the service in Canada, Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America. After removing the adult services section in the U.S., they had a sign that said “censored.” Backpage.com, a classifieds website owned by Village Voice media saw a spike in their adult services section ever since Craigslist shut down the adult services section in the U.S. this past September.

Craigslist announced earlier this week that the “adult services” section of Craigslist has been shut down. The changes are permanent.

Craigslist removed the adult services ads on September 3 after months of pressure from law enforcement officials. Craigslist director William Powell said the website has “no plans to reinstate the category.”

“Those who formerly posted ads in the adult services category will now have to advertise elsewhere,” stated Powell.

Currently the changes have only been applied to Craigslist in the United States. The erotic services currently remain on Craigslist in other countries. Craigslist placed a “censored” tag on September 3rd over the adult services section. The censored tag was removed a few days later.

A judge has ruled in favor of eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) over an equity case with craigslist. A judge reinstated eBay’s 28.4% stake in Craigslist. But the judge ruled that Craigslist can keep eBay off of their board of directors.

This means that there was no clear victory to any of the companies at the Delaware Chancery Court. There is still another court case between the two companies that was filed in San Francisco. Craigslist claims that eBay used their board seat to gain confidential information about the classifieds ads business to launch their own business called Kijiji.

Supposedly Craigslist diluted eBay’s shares to 25% from 28.4%. “EBay brought this suit to protect its own shareholders and preserve its valuable investment in Craigslist,” said eBay in a statement.
