Digg founder Kevin Rose has announced a new e-mail newsletter company called Foundation. Rose said back in June that he was planning on leaving Diggnation to launch a new show called fforward. It turns out that this idea was axed too. I believe it is safe to say that the idea for fforward has transformed into the newsletter Foundation.

Digg founder Kevin Rose is starting a new show called fforward (pronounced forward — he sure loves adding an extra letter to a dictionary word for his companies/shows). He plans to leave the show Diggnation, hosted by Revision3 around the end of the year. It will be a weekly live streaming tech/geek culture show according to Rose in an interview with TechCrunch. The new show will feature guests to debate various topics. [TechCrunch]

Kevin Rose said that he will be leaving Diggnation soon, but will be with the show through 2010. Rose also said he plans to announce a new show very soon. Co-host Alex Albrecht, Kevin Rose, and Revision3 CEO Jim Louderback plans to evaluate what to do with the show near the end of the year. Diggnation is no longer Revision3′s biggest show. Tekzilla is and it brings in about 20% of Revision3′s revenue. Diggnation accounts for about 12% of Revision3′s total views.

Diggnation host Alex Albrecht hired some iPhone application developers to work on various projects. His most recent application that was added to the iTunes App Store is called Duel [iTunes link]. He released the game through a company called App Dragon.

To play Duel with a friend, both of you need iPhones and need to connect to each other through Bluetooth. After that, there is a countdown and you have to point your iPhone at your friend horizontally similar to how people in the Wild Wild West did it. Alex Albrecht was a co-host of former TechTV show The Screen Savers.

At a live Diggnation in Austin, Texas Kevin Rose predicted that copy and paste will be included in the new, upcoming iPhone 3.0 software upgrade.  Roses’ source for this also predicted that the iPhone will be brought up-to-speed with the features that Palm Pre has.

Background applications is not expected to be as part of the upgrade.

The way copy & paste would work is that when you double tap on a word, quotes will appear in the magnifying glass and then you would select the copy boundaries that you want to paste within a sentence, paragraph etc.  MMS and video recording will unlikely be part of the new release.

Change is good.  I like the new look of Revision3.  The new site has been under development for about 5 months.  Each program has their own page subtitle.  There is a rotating module that highlights featured programming.  The company also worked with BitGravity to improve video performance and increase the size of their standard video player. 

Revision3 also added forums to give more visibility to their user community.  The forums are also intended to engage in discussions revolving around Revision3′s programs.  Users can add avatars.  The new logo stands out more than the old one also.

Lastly, new episodes of Diggnation were only available to paid members.  But since the new design launched, the most Diggnation episode will be accessible to all users as soon as its uploaded.  Revision3 recently added the Digg Reel to the list of video programs.  Not a bad new year’s start for Kevin Rose & team.
