Facebook App For iOS Went From 1.5 To 4 Stars In 3 Weeks

The original Facebook app for the iPhone was designed in HTML5.  Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that they “bet too much” on HTML5, which made their application bad.  The new application is based on native code for the iPhone and that makes the mobile application better and faster.  Half of Facebook’s iOS users updated their app in 4 days.  As a result, Facebook’s App Store review average rose from 1.5 stars to 4 stars in just 3 weeks since relaunching.  Facebook platform head Doug Purdy said that users are happier and share more photos with the new iOS app.  [TechCrunch]

Earlier this week Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was interviewed at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference and he acknowledged that the company bet too much on HTML5 for their mobile app.  He even said that HTML5 was Facebook’s “biggest mistake.”
