Google+ Also Includes Google Check-ins

An additional feature of Google+ not mentioned in the demo tour is Google Check-ins, which AboutFoursquare says will be a rival for Foursquare, but particularly will challenge Facebook Places. The privacy issues surrounding Foursquare and Facebook Places that concern some users are potentially nonexistent in Google Check-ins because of the Circles built into every facet of Google+. Users of Google+ get to decide which circles see their Check-ins before they’re even posted with a simple menu at the top of the mobile Check-ins page.

Yelp Now Offering Coupons For Mobile Check-Ins


Foursquare was one of the first companies to offer incentives for checking in to venue partners. SCVNGR and Facebook copied off of Foursquare’s business model and now Yelp is jumping on board too. Yelp is now offering business owners “Check-in Offers” to venues.

Facebook Announces Places Deals, Single Sign-On, Places API, and Other Mobile Updates


Facebook held an event to announce an update with their mobile services. One of the major feature announcements is Facebook Places Deals. When opening Places on the Facebook mobile application, you will be able to see local deals in the area. Facebook also announced that they have 200 million mobile users.

Facebook Places Has 30 Million Users and Foursquare Has 4 Million Users [RUMOR]


Facebook has about 30 million Facebook Places users according to BusinessInsider. This means that about 20% of those who access Facebook from a mobile device has tested out Facebook Places at one point. Facebook has 150 million active mobile device users. Foursquare on the other hand has 4 million users and considered selling to Yahoo! for $100 million recently. However Foursquare users are statically much more active than Facebook Places users. Facebook Places Check-In Service Now Live In The UK


Facebook geo-location service Facebook Places is now live in the United Kingdom. Yesterday Facebook UK Product Manager Michael Sharon had a breakfast briefing at 8AM to go over Facebook Places. Dennis Crowley Tweets Foursquare Had Biggest Sign-Up Day


Earlier this week Facebook Places was announced. Facebook Places is check-in service that is similar to Foursquare and Gowalla. Rather than “killing the competition,” Facebook Places brought about awareness of geo-location services. Foursquare saw its biggest sign-up day after the Facebook Places announcement.
