Facebook Acquires MailRank For The Talent

Facebook has hired MailRank in order to hire the two co-founders of the company. Through the acquisition, Facebook will be bringing in Bethanye McKinney Blount and Bryan O’Sullivan. The two are veterans at Linden Lab. Likely Facebook’s Director of Engineering and former Linden Lab CTO Cory Ondrejka played a role in this deal.

Facebook, Google, Yahoo!, Twitter, AOL, and eBay Oppose Proposed Legislation About Copyright Regulation

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) executive chairman Eric Schmidt has been vocal about proposed legislation regarding online copyright regulation today and said that the PROTECT IP Act in the U.S. Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act in the U.S. House of Representatives would censor the Internet. This bill is intended to combat pirated movies and music and allow copyright holders and law enforcement officials the ability to cut off websites.

Facebook Hit With Maliciously Coordinated Pornography and Violent Image Spam Attack

Facebook has reported today that they have been hit with a “coordinated spam attack” which led to the posting of pornographic and violent images on the news feeds of many users. The spam attack started a couple of days ago and many people have been complaining about the images on Twitter and Facebook since.

Ford Uses Social Media To Promote 2013 Mustang and Escape

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has launched a couple of social media campaigns to promote the new 2013 Mustang and the 2013 Escape vehicles. The 2013 Mustang campaign was launched on Facebook ahead of the company’s debut of the vehicle at the 2011 LA Auto Show. The 2013 Escape social media campaign was conducted using Zynga’s Words With Friends.

Facebook and FTC Near Agreement On 2009 Privacy Complaint

Facebook and the Federal Trade Commission are nearing an agreement from a 2009 privacy complaint. The final approval from the FTC commissioners would require Facebook to let users opt in to changes in the way that information is shared rather than forcing them to opt out of changes that Facebook imposes on them.

Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg Appearing On Charlie Rose Tonight


Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg will be interviewed on Charlie Rose tonight. The interview will air on PBS and then on Bloomberg. This is their first time on the Charlie Rose TV show. Charlie Rose is best known for asking big picture questions like user privacy and plans for an IPO. However based on interviews from the past that I have seen, Sandberg and Zuckerberg have been trained well to avoid discussing a potential timeline for an IPO for the company. [AllThingsD]
Paul Ceglia Says Zuckerberg Deleted E-Mails After The Lawsuit

Paul Ceglia is currently in the middle of a lawsuit against Facebook Inc. and Mark Zuckerberg. Ceglia claims to own half of Mark Zuckerberg’s equity in Facebook. The latest about Ceglia is that he has asked a judge to sanction Zuckerberg for allegedly destroying e-mail messages that are related to their dispute.

Facebook Building A Server Farm At The Edge Of The Arctic Circle

Facebook is preparing to build a farm facility in Luleå, northern Sweden. This is the first time that Facebook is building a server farm outside of the U.S. “The climate will allow them to just use only air for cooling the servers,” stated Aurorum Science Park CEO Mats Engman. Aurorum is on a mission to convince other large computing companies. “If you take the statistics, the temperature has not been above 30C [86F] for more than 24 hours since 1961. If you take the average temperature, it’s around 2C [35.6F].”

Paul Ceglia Now Interested In Talking To Winklevoss Twins

Paul Ceglia is best known for filing a lawsuit against Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. Ceglia said he had a document that shows that Zuckerberg promised him equity in Facebook that would be worth over half of the company. Interestingly Paul Ceglia has decided to contact the Winklevoss twins via Twitter.

Paul Ceglia Tells Lawyer Not To Turn Over E-Mail Data

Paul Ceglia, the man that claims to own over half of Facebook, has told his lawyers not to comply with a court order to turn in e-mail data. Facebook had asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Leslie Foschio in Buffalo, New York to request Paul Ceglia and his lawyers to turn over e-mail accounts and passwords.
