Forrester CEO Says Jony Ive Or Scott Forstall Would Be Better As Apple Head


Forrester CEO George Colony has written that Apple’s best days are behind them and said that the company will be headed for the same slump that happened to Sony (post Morita) and Disney (post Walt Disney). “Apple will coast, and then decelerate” wrote Colony on his blog post. Colony referred to “The Theory of Social and Economic Organization,” which says that businesses are either Legal/bureaucratic, Traditional, or Charismatic. He said that Apple fell into the third category because of Jobs’ charisma and willingness to take risks. However he believes that Tim Cook is more of a “legal/bureaucratic” type of guy. Colony said that he believes that somebody like Jony Ive or Scott Forstall would do a better job leading Apple, but he admitted not knowing them personally.

Why Major Retailers Shut Down Their Facebook Stores


In the past year, four major retailers have shut down their storefronts on Facebook this past year. The Gap, JC Penney, Nordstrom, and Gamespot shut down their stores on Facebook because they have not bought anything. It turns out that fans of these brands preferred shopping on retailer websites over doing this on Facebook.

Forrester: Tablet Sales In The U.S. Expected To Be About 24.1 Million In 2011


Forrester published a forecast about tablet sales for the year. When Forrester published their previous forecast in June 2010, they were being a bit conservative. Since then Forrester has done more surveys and saw more sales numbers from Apple. Now Forrester expects tablet sales to more than double to 24.1 million in 2011. [Forrester Blog]

Spring Design’s Lawsuit Against Barnes & Noble Will Go On


Spring Design’s lawsuit against Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) will go on. Spring Design filed a lawsuit against Barnes & Noble because they said the Nook electronic tablet reader was illegally copying their screen design. Spring Design said that Barnes & Noble is allegedly misappropriating trade secrets, violating breach of contract, and is competing unfairly. U.S. District Judge James Ware refused to throw out the case. Spring Design announced a lawsuit against Barnes & Noble in November 2009. The price of the Nook starts at $149. According to Forrester Research, Barnes & Noble is expecting to sell 2 million units by the end of the year. [Reuters]
