Chute Raises $7 Million In Series A

Chute is a startup company that is known for being able to capture, manage, and displaying media.  The company makes it possible for publishers and businesses to find relevant photos from social networks and then displaying them on their own websites and real-world locations.  The company has raised $7 million in Series A funding led by Foundry Group with participation from existing investors Freestyle Capital and US Venture Partners.  The company raised $2.7 million in a seed round led by Freestyle in July 2012.

Cheezburger Raises $5 Million

Cheezburger has raised $5 million in funding according to an SEC filing.  Cheezburger is known as the parent company for several humorous content channels like I Can Has Cheezburger, Fail Blog, and Memebase.  Investors in this round include Foundry Group, Madrona Venture Group, Avalon Ventures, and SoftBank Capital.  Cheezburger was launched by Ben Huh in 2007.  The company has over 50 websites in their network.  The company makes money from advertising, book publishing, and merchandising.  The company raised $30 million in funding last year.  Cheezburger even has a reality show where the camera interviews employees and follows the day-to-day at the company called “LOLwork.”  A Cheezburger spokesperson said that the new round of funding will go towards building a social humor platform.

isocket Raises $8 Million In Series A Financing

isocket is a company that serves as a direct sales platform for premium online advertising.  isocket has received $8 million in Series A financing, led by Foundry Group. Costanoa is a new investor in this round and they are joining existing investors like Tim Draper of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Jeff Clavier (SoftTech VC), Accelerator Ventures, Quest Venture Partners, and Blumberg Capital.

Foundry Group Raises $225 Million For A New Fund

Foundry Group is an early investor in Zynga and Awe.sm.  The company has announced that they have raised another $225 million fund.  This fund was announced in a blog post by Foundry Group founders Jason Mendelson, Brad Feld, Seth Levine, and Ryan McIntyre.  This is the third fund raised by the group.  Since there is still money left in the previous fund, Foundry will not be drawing from the new fund until later this year or Q1 of next year. K9 Ventures Raises $40 Million For Ventures II Fund

K9 Ventures is a venture capital company that has just raised $40 million for their second fund, which is a tech-focused micro-fund known as the K9 Ventures II fund.  The fund is led by Manu Kumar, who had headed the earlier fund.

Occipital Is Developing Some Of The Most Sophisticated Augmented Reality Applications


Occipital is a TechStars company that had raised $7 million in Series A funding. The Boulder, Colorado based company had previously sold an app to eBay called RedLaser. And the company recently launched a new app called 360Panorama. 360Panorama will allow people to take 3D panoramic image captures through mobile devices. Now Occipital is planning a campaign to launch some high-tech augmented reality applications.
