Aereo is a $12 per month cloud-based TV service that streams over-the-air channels to Internet devices. However broadcasters like ABC, Fox, Univision, and PBS has filed a complaint against Aereo claiming that the cloud TV service is infringing their copyright. The man behind Aereo is InterActiveCorp’s Barry Diller. The broadcasters are pushing to shut off the service despite the company’s plans to launch the service on March 14th. Aereo uses over-the-air signals that are free to everyone and retransmits them to individual “dime-sized antennas.” Aereo was planning on launching the service in Brooklyn first. The broadcasters are seeking damages and a permanent injunction. [paidcontent]

Hulu’s potential buyers may be edging away from a deal after Fox’s decision to limit the streaming to Hulu. Fox has decided to limit the streaming of programs, allowing only paying customers access to next-day streaming and letting non-paying users wait eight days for the programs to stream. Given the sexual content that is often displayed in GoDaddy.com’s Super Bowl ads, I figured it would be very hard to get a commercial banned from air-time. Apparently Ashley Madison, a website where people can meet who are interested in having an affair, has crossed the line. Fox has banned the above commercial from airing during this year’s Super Bowl. This commercial stars adult film star Savanna Samson.

In December 2009 Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) made a deal to acquire NBC from General Electric. This deal is facing scrutiny from the government. The FCC said that one of the proposed conditions if they allow the deal to take place is that NBC would no longer have the exclusive rights to their shows on the Internet. This means that Hulu would not be the only web video service that has the rights to stream NBC shows. The three owners in Hulu are NBC, ABC, and FOX. Justin Walker has been convicted of killing a Sheriff in Oklahoma. He is currently serving a 30 year prison sentence and somehow managed to smuggle a BlackBerry into jail. Using the BlackBerry, he has been posting photos from jail with fellow inmates. He also posted photos of him licking a knife, smoking a bong, and holding up a bag of marijuana.

FOX 23 News found out about his Facebook account known as Jus N Walk. After FOX 23 created the report, they notified the authorities about the Facebook account. That account is no longer active and there is a chance that Walker may end up doing more time in prison since it is a felony to have a phone in prison. Check out the video below of the report:

Patricia McIlvaine is being sued by Twentieth Century Fox for creating a free online library of Hollywood movie scripts to help other screenwriters find examples of what a successful movie script looks like. According to TorrentFreak.com Twentieth Century Fox did not send P.J. McIlvaine a notice about her supposed wrong-doing either. They just sent private investigators to her house, gathered information, and sent her a $12 million lawsuit. Fox is seeking damages and injunctive relief for copyright infringement and contributory copyright infringement.

Fox claimed that P.J. “uploaded and made available to others via the Internet a script of Deadpool, the copyright to which is owned by Fox, and which is a script for a project still in development.” I agree with Fox in the sense that P.J. should not have uploaded unreleased material, but the $12 million fine being imposed on a single individual seems pretty severe. Fox wants $150,000 for each of the 79 movie scripts that McIlvaine uploaded.

“PJ doesn’t have the kind of cash needed to hire an attorney. Like I said, days she works a telephone line selling flowers to make ends meet and nights she writes — fighting to bridge that artist-who-does-art vs. artist-who-gets-paid-for-art gap,” stated a posting on the Celluloid Blonde blog. “In between she is caring for an elderly relative suffering from dementia. In between that she is caring for an infant. She is going to need help.”
