Verizon Plans To End Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plans

Verizon Wireless CFO Fran Shammo said today that they are planning to end unlimited data plans when customers switch to a 4G phone. Shammo made the announcement at a JPMorgan conference. Verizon Wireless does not currently offer unlimited data plans for new customers. Some of the older customers have unlimited data plans that were grandfathered into their existing plans. Most of the older customers with unlimited data plans have 3G devices. When the older customers buy a 4G phone, Verizon will force them to sign up for a shared family data plan or tiered individual data plans.
Verizon Wireless Planning To Launch Family Plans That Supports Multiple Smartphone and Tablet Devices

Verizon Wireless is preparing to launch family plans for data services that support multiple devices that include tablets and smartphones. Verizon plans on eliminating smartphone plans that allow unlimited access to the web for a flat fee with tiered pricing plan for multiple devices.

Verizon Has Activated 2.2 Million iPhones In First Quarter

Verizon Wireless has announced their first quarter results and reported that they have activated 2.2 million iPhones in the first quarter and about 500,000 4G devices. Of the 500,000 4G devices, 260,000 were HTC Thunderbolts.
