Kevin Rose’s Milk Inc. Raises $1.5 Million


Milk Inc. is a new company that was co-founded by Kevin Rose. Rose is the founder of Digg and co-founder of Revision3. Milk is essentially a company where several developers brainstorm technology and mobile ideas and works away at building them. If there isn’t any sudden traction, then the project gets shut down. Milk has raised $1.5 million in angel funding from well known investors. Investors include Mike Maples, Jr. (Floodgate), David Sze (Greylock Partners), Ron Conway, Dave Morin, Philip Rosedale, Evan Williams, Joshua Schachter, Ashton Kutcher, Michael Arrington, Philip Kaplan, Chris Sacca, Tony Hsieh, Gary Vaynerchuk, and several others. Wine Review Website Cork’d Shuts Down, Gary Vaynerchuk Explains Why [VIDEO]


Cork’d was a wine reviews website that was led by Gary Vaynerchuk. Cork’d launched in 2006 and they hired Lindsay Ronga as CEO about 1.5 years ago. Ronga decided to move to other opportunities and Vaynerchuk is involved in too many other projects. People that have data on Cork’d can export it over the next 90 days or so. Social Media Marketing Company Wildfire Raises $4 Million


Wildfire is a social media marketing platform company that is known for building viral campaigns. The company has raised $4 million in Series A funding from Summit Partners, Jeff Clavier, Aydin Senkut, and Gary Vaynerchuk. Wildfire’s platform lets marketers created contests, coupons, quizzes, virtual gifts, etc. Marketers can simultaneously publish these on Facebook and Twitter. Wildfire is a fbFund company. Gowalla Raises $8.4 Million From Greylock and Several Angel Investors

Gowalla is a location based social networking website that has raised $8.4 million in funding. Greylock Partners was the lead investor and the company plans to use the funding to strengthen their development capabilities. Thus far Gowalla has raised over $10 million since they started in 2007.

“Gowalla has rapidly attracted a passionate user base by creating an innovative, useful service that is also a lot of fun,” stated Greylock’s David Thacker. “It’s exciting to discover new places and earn stamps for your passport from places as diverse as Buckingham Palace and the Sydney Opera House to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the coffee shop down the street. Gowalla also connects you with your friends, letting you share your travels and meet up with others in real time.” Thacker has joined the Gowalla Board of Directors as part of the investment.

LinkedIn co-founder and Greylock Partner Reid Hoffman also joined Gowalla’s board of directors as an observer.

Other investors in Gowalla include Jason Calacanis, Kevin Rose, Maples Investments, Shasta Ventures, Ron Conway, Gary Vaynerchuk, Shervin Pishevar, and Chris Sacca. Previous investors Alsop-Louie Partners and Founders Fund also participated in this round.
