General Motors Company (GM) Stock Price Hits Highest Close In Over 2 Years

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is seeing their stock price steadily increasing.  The company’s stock price cloud at $33.42 per share on Friday, which is up 3.18%.  This is the company’s highest close in over two years.  This stock price beats the company’s initial public offering price at $33 per share in November 2010.  The increases started earlier this year as the company saw an increase in sales throughout the United States, China, and Europe.

General Motors Company (GM) Says New $130 Million Data Center Will Help Prevent Large Recalls

Today General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) announced that they are building a new $130 million enterprise data center in Warren, Michigan.  The facility will have 5,040 square feet of space, 48 work stations, and a 955-square foot video wall with 28 configurable screens.  The facility will be designed to monitor the use of data across their operations.  The data center will be able to handle computer simulations on vehicle design, fuel economy, quality, and safety.

GM Is Planning To Build 20% More Hybrids This Year Than 2012

General Motors is going to build around 36,000 Chevrolet Volt and plug-in hybrids this year.  This is 20% more than they sold in 2012.  GM is working on building around 1,500-3,000 plug-in vehicles per month.  The company sold around 30,000 Volt and Opel Ampera cars in 2012 according to GM spokesman Jim Cain.

General Motors Announces Plans For 4G LTE Deployment In Vehicles

General Motors has announced today that they plan to deliver a new generation of connected cars and trucks that have 4G LTE mobile broadband integrated into them. The first vehicles to have 4G LTE built-in will be most 2015 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac models available in 2014. The 4G LTE will be powered by AT&T. GM plans to announced more carrier and supplier relationships in the coming months.

The Chevy Sonic and Spark Are The First Cars To Get Siri Eyes Free Integration

Today the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic and Spark vehicles with Chevrolet MyLink will be available with Siri, the intelligent assistant maintained by Apple Inc.  “The Chevy Sonic and Spark are the first vehicles to offer Siri Eyes Free integration,” said Chevrolet marketing director for small cars Cristi Landy. “Safe, easy, reliable and portable connectivity is a top priority for our customers, and Siri complements MyLink’s existing capabilities to help deliver an incredible driving experience.”

Cadillac CUE To Improve Responsiveness Later This Year

General Motors is working on updating the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system.  The system has a capacitive touchscreen and multi-touch controls.  Unfortunately the CUE is not responsive and it lags.  Later this year, Cadillac will release an update for the infotainment system to improve the feedback for the touchscreen controls and the capacitive virtual buttons on the center stack.

General Motors To Air Commercials During Pre-Game Super Bowl

General Motors Company is not going to be advertising on CBS during the Super Bowl this Sunday February 3rd.  However they will be airing ads during the pre-game programming.  GM’s Chevy brand will have four spots during that time according to Chevy marketing VP Chris Perry.  Last year General Motors Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick said that they will not be advertising during the Super Bowl because of the high cost.  Ewanick was fired in July 2012 after an expensive deal was made with Manchester United.
