Microsoft Bashes On Google Apps [VIDEO]

Microsoft has released this video bashing on Google. The video features a salesman dressed with a Google-themed necktie and wearing a suit. The salesman is trying to convince an enterprise executive to use Google apps, but he is portrayed as the Googlighting Stranger. Apparently the executive and her company was heavily dependent on Microsoft products like Word and Excel. “What happens when the world’s largest advertising business tries to sell productivity software on the side?” said Microsoft in the video. “Beware the Googlighting Stranger.” Check out the video below:

Google Offering Apps Discounts For Non-Profits

Google has launched a new service called Google for Nonprofits. The program allows non-profit organizations discounts for Google Apps subscriptions. If approved, the non-profit can receive up to $10,000 a month in AdWords ads for free. They will also receive free or discounted Google Apps use. [CNET]
U.S. General Services Administration Is Switching To Google Apps

The U.S. General Services Administration is switching 17,000 employees and contractors to Google Apps for Government. GSA runs the real estate and building management services for the U.S. federal government. Google Apps worked on an RFP for the GSA over the past 6 months. The GSA will be working with Unisys to migrate all of their employees to Google Apps. [Google Blog]
About 60 Additional Internal Services Being Integrated Into Google Apps

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has announced that they are rolling about 60 more internal products into Google Apps. These products include Google Voice, Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and Google Reader, and Picasa.

Three Million Businesses Now Use Google Apps

The company has announced that they have hit 3 million Google Apps business users There are over 30 million users within these businesses, schools, and organizations as well. Google announced this figure at the at their annual European event called Google Atmosphere in Paris, France.

Google Apps Accounts Will Soon Have Full Access To All Google Products

Google Apps users that want access to other services that regular Google Accounts have may get it soon. Google Apps Allows Developers To Create Third Party Apps For GMail

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced today that they are now letting Google Apps customers add third-party applications to GMail. “Starting today, third party developers can build Gmail contextual gadgets and distribute them in the Google Apps Marketplace. These gadgets can display information from social networks, business services, web applications and other systems, and users can interact with that data right within Gmail,” stated Google Apps extensions Product Manager Chandrashekar Raghavan.

Laid Off Microsoft Evangelist Don Dodge Becomes Google Apps Evangelist

About two weeks ago, Microsoft Corporation laid off their “ambassador to startups” Don Dodge because of a broad workforce reduction. Dodge decided to come to Silicon Valley to do some interviewing shortly after.
Google extended an offer to Dodge and he accepted. Now Dodge will become the evangelist to Google Apps. He will be reporting to former Microsoft executive Vic Gundotra. Gundotra worked at Microsoft for 15 years with the most reaching position being the General Manager of Microsoft developer outreach efforts.
