The U.S. District Court in New York has rejected Google’s book settlement with the Authors Guild and Association of American Publishers. The Amended Settlement Agreement (ASA) let Google scan whatever books they wanted and index it.

The Google eBookstore works on the web, Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, the Barnes & Noble Nook, and Sony Reader. The Google eBookstore is compatible with your Google account login.

There is a group of photographers and artists have accused Google for copyright infringement in a lawsuit. The photographers’ complaint is similar to a lawsuit that authors have filed against Google.
The lawsuit was filed at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan. The photographer group is seeking $150,000 in damages for each of the thousands of photographs.
“Google Books is an historic effort to make all of the knowledge contained within the world’s books searchable online,” responded company spokesperson Gabriel Stricker. “It exposes readers to information they might not otherwise see, and it provides authors and publishers with a new way to be found.” [Huffington Post]
