Google TV currently comes built-in on various Sony TV models and on Logitech set-top boxes. Google TV allows consumers to access websites, videos, and apps from their TVs.

(NASDAQ:GOOG) has updated the user interface for Google TV. “This chapter is not about replacing broadcast or cable TV; it’s not about replicating what’s on TV to the Web,” stated Google VP of Product Management Mario Queiroz and Director of Engineering Vincent Dureau. Google announced a software update for Google TV and they focused on four key areas for the update. This includes keeping the user interface simple, making it easier to find something worth watching, making YouTube better on TV, and bringing additional apps to TV.

Logitech Suspending Revue Until January 2011 [RUMOR]

Logitech has told Gigabyte Technology to temporarily suspend shipments of the Revue device that streams Google TV. Logitech told Gigabyte to suspend the shipments until January 2011 so that Google TV will have time to update their software. According to DigiTimes, “Market watchers had originally estimated that shipments of Revue STBs would top 500,000 units by the end of 2010, and including STBs shipped by Sony, sales of Google TVs were expected to top one million units initially.” [DigiTimes]

This sounds like YouTube all over again. Viacom is refusing to join Google TV. This means Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount, Dreamworks, Spike, CMT, Xfire, Go Fish Pictures, and VH1 will not be appearing on Google TV. Other major networks that are blocking Google TV include ABC, NBC, and CBS. Viacom is blocking full episodes on the Logitech Revue and Sony Internet TVs too. [Engadget]

ABC, CBS, and NBC stated that they are not going to allow full length episodes of their shows on Google TV. However they will allow promotional clips when browsing with Google TV. Google TV lets you access the web browser and YouTube from your TV screen.
