Lenovo is acquiring Motorola Mobility from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) for $2.91 billion, according to TechCrunch. Google acquired Motorola in 2011 for $12.5 billion. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Vringo, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRNG) is a software development company that develops software for mobile devices. Based in New York, Vringo is publicly traded and has less than 30 employees, according to their financial profiles. Vringo acquired some patents from the old search engine Lycos in 2011.
It has been around 9 months since Google started to ship the Google Glass smart-glasses device. Now Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is offering eyeglass frames as a $225 upgrade for Google Glass users. Google Glass is not commercially available right now. The smart-glasses product are invitation-only and Google started by asking users to give a compelling reason about what they would do with the product.
Google has acquired an artificial intelligence company called DeepMind for around $400 million, according to Re/Code. DeepMind was founded by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman three years ago. DeepMind is known for having the ability to combine the best techniques from machine learning and systems neuroscience for building general-purpose learning algorithms.
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Samsung are close-knit partners already. Samsung is the top manufacturer and distributor of devices that powered by the Android operating system. Now the Google and Samsung partnership is going to strengthen through a global patent-licensing deal.
Google has patented an idea where the search giant would provide a free ride to a store. The store would be connected to Google as a partner. However, Google will review the person’s information to determine what kind of transportation that they should offer.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) went offline for around 25 minutes. The outage affected users on Gmail, Google+, Google Calendar, and Google Docs. For around 10% of Google’s users, the outage persisted for around 30 minutes. Google apologized for the issue and said that they are focused on the bug that caused the outage.

In one of Top Gear’s latest video clips, they put a Google Street View up against a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Black Series. The Mercedes vehicle is 631 horsepower by the way so you could imagine that the Street View car getting smoked and lapped. The Google Street View car was not brought to the Top Gear track simply to get embarrassed though. The car took imagery of the test track and put it on Google Maps.
