An “easter egg” is an intentional hidden message programmed into websites, games, movies, books, etc. The companies Google, Facebook, and Take Two are best known for integrating Easter eggs into their products. In this case Google has added a couple of Easter eggs to their search engine to get into the holiday spirit.

Google Earth Looks Amazing On 48 Screens [VIDEO]


Want to see what Google Earth looks like on 48 screens? I’ll give you a hint: It looks awesome. Above is a video of Google Earth on 48 screens, which covers 40 square meters and almost 100 million pixels. This display was put together in the Paris Center for Architecture and Urbanism. The installation is powered by Google’s Liquid Galaxy software that is used for Google Earth being displayed on multiple displays. The map can be navigated by using four multi-touch displays that allows visitors to pan and pinch and zoom in or zoom out. [UberGizmo]

Google Employee Spends $40,000 To Create LAN Party Room [GALLERY]


Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) employee Kenton Varda has every geek’s dream house. He has set up his family room in a way that supports LAN gaming for 12 people. Most people have to deal with tons of ethernet cables, power cables, and extension cords to deal with getting a decent LAN gaming party together. Kenton had custom cabinets built to hide all of these wires. How much did it cost him to build the ultimate LAN gaming room? About$40,000 to set-up six stations spread over two rooms. Google Gives Customized Galaxy Nexus Handsets To Employees For Christmas


Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has given out customized versions of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone to many of their employees as a Christmas gift. The back of the Galaxy Nexus has a customized cover. The cover has Google+ and Android icons. Google’s London and Zurich offices are giving out free devices to employees and required their staff to line up and claim their free handsets. [TNW]

Google+ Adds Volume Control, Sneak Preview Notifications, Photo Lightbox, and Pages Improvements


Bradley Horowitz, the VP of Product at Google+ wrote on the company blog that they have created several new features to the social network. The new features include the ability to fine-tune your stream using a slider, a “sneak preview” notification system, and improvements to Pages.

British Telecom Suing Google Over 6 Patents


Apple, Oracle, Microsoft, and eBay are all suing Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) over patent infringement against Android. Now British Telecommunications plc have filed a lawsuit against Google over patent infringement against Android.

Google Android Update Alliance With Telecommunication Companies Starts To Fizzle


This past May Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced a partnership at the I/O conference that they have made a deal so that any new Android phone would receive OS updates for at least 18 months following the launch. The partnership is called the Google Update Alliance. Motorola, Samsung, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sony Ericsson are a part of the Update Alliance. Sony Ericsson is the only company that has kept up with the partnership. In fact Sony Ericsson released new versions of Android to all phones that are less than 18 months.

Google Gets A Patent For Their Driverless Cars


Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has been given a patent for their driverless car technology. The patent covers a method for cars to go into autonomous mode and for finding parking spots. The patent was approved on December 13th. Google has first disclosed their self-driving car in October 2010, which was in an advanced stage of development at the time.

Google Releases Zeitgeist 2011 [VIDEO]


As keeping up with an 11-year tradition, Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has released the top searches for the year on their 2011 Zeitgeist website. Last year they made an awesome video of the top searches with OneRepublic’s “Good Life” as the background music. This year they have made the video even better and Mat Kearney’s “Sooner or Later” is the background music. In the video, you will notice that some of the top searches include Rebecca Black, Ryan Dunn, Battlefield 3, Casey Anthony, Adele, iPhone 5, iPad 2, Fukushima I Plant, and Steve Jobs. Google Adds Custom Signatures and Vacation Responders To Gmail iOS App


Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has updated the Gmail iPhone app with new features. The new Gmail iOS app has custom signatures for messages and a vacation responder. You can set them up through the gear icon at the top of the new menu. The app also supports nested labels. Scribbles has also been added to the Gmail iOS app.
