Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is going very green this month. Yesterday Google announced a deal to purchase up to 407MW of wind power for its Iowa data center. And today, Google has announced that it has committed $100 million to create a new fund for financing the purchase of residential solar installations through a partnership with SunPower Corporation.

Tech companies spend a lot of money on lobbying. Two companies that are known for opening their wallets for political lobbying are Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Verizon. In the last two years, the two companies spent a combined $63 million to drive legislation in their favor. And the two companies already spent $6 million combined in 2014.

A lawyer at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) lawyer testified on Tuesday that the search giant company has agreed to take over defense of some of the claims in Apple’s current patent lawsuit against Samsung. Google will compensate Samsung if it loses on some of those claims.

Google Inc (GOOGL) has signed 407 MW wind energy deal for data center in Iowa

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has announced that it made a deal with MidAmerican Energy to supply its $1.5 billion Iowa data center with up to 407 megawatts of 100% renewable wind energy. This is Google’s sixth and largest green energy power purchase agreement thus far and brings its total amount of contracted renewable energy to over 1,000 MW.

Google is refunding Virus Shield customers

A fake anti-virus application was uploaded to the Google Play Store called Virus Shield. The price was $3.99 for the software and the app quickly jumped in the rankings. Eventually the application was removed from the store once it was proved that the app was fraudulent.
