Paul Graham, the co-founder of Y Combinator, wrote in a blog post that the seed accelerator program has hired Andrew Mason, Kevin Hale, Michael Seibel, Steve Huffman, and Dalton Caldwell as partners.  Kevin Hale will be a full partner and the others will be part-time partners.

P2P Airport Car Rental Company FlightCar Raises $5.5 Million

FlightCar is a startup that is change the landscape in the airport car rental business.  The company allows travelers that are leaving town to make their cars available for people that are visiting town.  FlightCar piloted their service at the San Francisco International Airport a few months ago and has plans to expand to other cities over the next year.

Y Combinator Company Crowdtilt Raises $12 Million

Crowdtilt is a crowdfunding company that spun out from Y Combinator.  Crowdtilt has raised $12 million in Series A funding from Sean Parker, Andreessen Horowitz, CrunchFund, DCM, and Felicis Ventures.  Before this round, Crowdtilt raised $2.1 million in seed funding this past May from SV Angel, CrunchFund, Paul Buchheit, Alexis Ohanian, Harj Taggar, Garry Tan, DCM, and Felicis Ventures.

Sift Science Raises $5.5 Million In Seed Funding

Sift Science is a company that has raised $5.5 million in funding to help fight fraud.  Investors that participated in this round include Y Combinator, SV Angel, Start Fund, Alex Rampell, Harj Taggar, Garry Tan, Lee Linden, Kevin Scott, Alexis Ohanian, Rich Barton, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Founder Collective, Max Levchin, Chris Dixon, Marc Benioff, and several others.  Sift Science has created technology that helps e-commerce companies, payment companies, and retailers detect fraudulent activity.  Albert Wenger of Union Square will be joining Sift’s board of directors.

Socialcam Raises Funding From 46 Angel Investors

Socialcam is an iPhone app that spun off of video sharing website Justin.tv last year as part of Y Combinators winter 2012 class. Socialcam has raised seed funding from 46 well known angel investors. Socialcam’s fiercest competitor is Viddy. They have been fighting back and forth as the top Photo & Video app recently. Socialcam has reportedly surpassed the 20 million user mark. Y Combinator Hires Paul Buchheit and Harj Taggar As Partners

Y Combinator has hired Paul Buchheit and Harj Taggar as partners of the investment company. Buchheit was responsible for Gmail, the original AdSense prototype, and even came up with Google’s catch phrase “Don’t be evil.” After leaving Google, he launched FriendFeed and sold it to Facebook.
