“Hon Hai has a workforce of over one million worldwide and as human beings are also animals, to manage one million animals gives me a headache,” stated Hon Hai chairman Terry Gou at a recent party. Gou pointed out that he wants to learn from Taipei Zoo director Chin Shih-chien about how animals should be managed. Gou invited Chin and all general managers in the group to listen to Chin’s lecture at the company’s annual review meeting.

Yesterday I wrote about how Microsoft was investigating a mass suicide threat at Foxconn Technology, the Chinese company that is known for manufacturing Xbox 360 consoles, iPhones, iPods, iPads, HP computers, etc. Foxconn said that they have resolved a pay dispute with their workers. In the process about 45 workers had resigned.

DigiTimes has a source that is reporting Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is refreshing their MacBook Pro and iMac line of products in the first half of 2011. Apple is planning to upgrade four MacBook Pros as well as the iMac. The iMac will have a new panel size and price point. The same report believes that Apple will sell about 10 million units in 2010. The new MacBook Pro notebooks will have a slight change in the chassis and will run on the Lion operating system. Hon Hai Precious Industry, parent company of Foxconn announced a wage increase by about 20% for employees at the Foxconn division in China. Employee wages will be increased from $131 per month to $157 per month.

Apple has sent out a public statement about the worker suicides that are happening at Chinese iPod and iPhone manufacturing plant Foxconn. Foxconn is a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry. HP, Dell, and other tech companies also has work done by Foxconn.
