HootSuite Continues To Grow After Turning Down Multiple Offers

HootSuite is a social media management company that launched three years ago. Since then they have grew to almost 4 million users with $75 million in revenue. HootSuite’s founder Ryan Holmes said that he and several shareholders have sold $20 million worth of shares to OMERS Ventures, which is an investment arm of one of Canada’s largest pension plans. This is one of the biggest venture capital deals in Canada.

Buddy Media, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, HootSuite, Involver, and Vitrue Developing Google+ Tools

In the past week Google+ launched a feature called Google+ Pages, which allowed businesses and brands build a profile. People have been critical of Google+’s Pages because they have banned promotions and competitions on brand pages directly, but they are allowed to do it from their own external websites. To allow social media management companies manage their presence on multiple social networks, Google+ is allowing Buddy Media, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, Hootsuite, Involver, and Vitrue test out their management tools on their service. Promoted Tweets Now Displayed On Google

Promoted tweets are now being indexed on Google.com. The Promoted Tweets are appearing in Google Realtime Search. This deal is supposedly part of the $15 million deal that Google made with Twitter. Yesterday Twitter started testing Promoted Tweets in Hootsuite, a platform for scheduling tweets and sending them to different social media outlets. [SearchEngineLand]
HootSuite Mobile Apps Going Free On October 13

HootSuite’s iPhone and Android mobile applications are going free in the afternoon on October 13th at noon PST. HootSuite’s iPad and BlackBerry applications will also be free. HootSuite is a social networking dashboard for Facebook and Twitter users for posting scheduled content. HootSuite earns revenue based on a freemium model. HootSuite’s mobile applications is currently in Lite and Full versions. The Full version will be free. Users who already paid $2.99 for the app will continue to have an ad-free interface. [Mashable]
HootSuite Twitter Application Hitting The iPhone App Store Tomorrow

HootSuite is a Twitter application that has group creation, columns, Twitter RSS services, Ping.fm integration, scheduled tweets, quick search, and spam reporting. Tomorrow HootSuite will be hitting the Apple App Store.
The application will specifically be available at 9AM EST tomorrow. The application will have Twitter analytics, schedule tweets, Twitter lists, multiple accounts, photo sharing, file sharing, and Twitter trends. Check out the demo video below with background music from the Plain White T’s.
