Microsoft Makes Integrating Windows Live Into iOS, Android, and Windows Phone Easier

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has made it easier for mobile application developers to integrate Windows Live into iOS, Android, and Windows Phone easier through the release of the developer platform Messenger Connect. Messenger Connect has APIs for SkyDrive, Hotmail, and Windows Live Messenger. These APIs can be used on websites and on mobile apps.

Hotmail Updates Password Security Policy

Microsoft plans to change the password policy for Hotmail accounts, in the interest of greater security. Users signing up for new accounts or changing their passwords will be prompted to create safer passwords and prevented from using easily-hacked passwords. Ars Technica reports that obvious passwords, like “password,” or phrases like “ilovecats” will no longer be allowed by the system.
Facebook Comment Plugins Now Supports Hotmail Login

Facebook has updated the comments plugin to support third party websites. The commenting plugin now also features permalinks for specific comments, a darker color scheme, and a Hotmail account login. About 50,000 websites are using the Comments Box plugin. [NewsGrange]

There was an outage over the weekend where some people reported that they were missing e-mails. “There was not a widespread outage. Flickr Adds People You May Know Tool

Flickr has introduced a new feature called People You May Know. The suggestions are based on your contacts and people that they know. You can add contacts from the Find Your Friends page or from the new module on the Flickr homepage. You can designate people as a friend, family member, or contact. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has added some new features to Hotmail.com. In May, Hotmail.com was given a full redesign and in August, Microsoft added push notifications to the service. In the next few weeks, Microsoft will add Facebook chat support, inbox subfolders, video-playing capabilities, package tracking, and LinkedIn integration.
