It has been rumored that Apple was going to create a TV product for years, until the Apple TV device was revealed.  Several years after the Apple TV was released, an authorized biography of Steve Jobs was published.  In the biography, Jobs said that he had “finally cracked” the difficulties behind entering the LCD TV market.  In order for Apple to launch a TV set, they would have to have important content deals to make it an appealing product for the mass market.

Jonathan “Jony” Ive is one of the most powerful employees at Apple. He is the SVP of Industrial Design and has been credited for being the lead designer of the iMac, G4, G4 Cube, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Ive was born in Chingford, London in 1967 and studied Industrial Design at Northumbria University. According to the BBC, Ive has been granted knighthood in the United Kingdom in the New Year Honours List giving him the official title of Sir Jonathan Ive. Ive’s official title is a Knight Commander of the British Empire.

Samsung Electronics Inc. and Apple Inc. are going to trial in July 2012. A few of Apple’s design engineers including Jony Ive, Douglas Satzger, Shin Nishibori, and Christopher Stringer will be deposed. Samsung originally was planning to complete the depositions by November 1st, but the company filed a motion seeking an extension due to the fact that the witnesses would be unavailable before then. Jonathan “Jony” Ive was Steve Jobs’ go-to guy for Apple product design ideas. Ive regularly became frustrated by Jobs when he took credit for his ideas. “I pay maniacal attention to where an idea comes from, and I even keep notebooks filled with my ideas,” said Ive. “So it hurts when he takes credit for one of my designs.”
