Skift is a travel, airline, and hotel industry news website that launched in July 2012. Skift was founded by paidContent founder Rafat Ali and Jason Clampet, a former executives at Frommers.com. Skift has raised $1.1 million in a seed round of funding. This round of funding was led by Lerer Ventures with participation from several funds and angel investors. Skift has raised a total of $1.5 million in funding.

NowThisNews is a video news service startup that has raised $4.8 million. Investors in this round include Lerer Ventures, Oak Investment Partners, SoftBank Capital, and Oak Investment. SoftBank principal Nikhil Kalghatgi is joining NowThisNews’ board of directors.

JIBE is a mobile job applications startup company that has raised $10 millin in Series B funding led by Longworth Venture Partners. Existing investors like Polaris Partners, Lerer Ventures, DFJ, DFJ Gotham, and Thrive Capital have joined this round also. JIBE used to be known as a company called localbacon.
Twitter has acquired Bluefin, a TV analytics company. This acquisition is believed to be Twitter’s large acquisition to date. Twitter definitely spent over $40 million on the acquisition since that is what they spent on TweetDeck two years ago.
BuzzFeed is a content website that writes all sorts of interesting articles. It does not matter if the article is about “50 Puppies To Help You Get Through Work Today” or “The Best Mr. T GIF Ever.” If the content has a chance of going viral, BuzzFeed will try to put it out there. The company has just raised $19.3 million in funding. BuzzFeed plans on hiring more employees and to expand their presence on mobile phones. BuzzFeed has raised a total of around $47 million.
IFTTT has raised $7 million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. New Enterprise Associates and Lerer Ventures participated in this round of funding. IFTTT will be using the funding to expand their staff and build out their service into a platform. John O’Farrell of Andreessen Horowitz will be joining the company as a board member.
