Rapper Li’l Wayne is attempting to set a Guinness World Record for Facebook the most Facebook “likes” in 24 hours. Currently Li’l Wayne has 20 million Facebook fans and he is attempting to beat Oreo at the record. Oreo is running a similar record contest and Li’l Wayne smoked right past them. Oreo registered with the Guinness World Records, but it is unclear whether Li’l Wayne did too. “I want people to think ‘Bieber, Gaga and Lil Wayne.’ The traffic we do is ridiculous and no one really knows,” stated Li’l Wayne’s digital manager Mazy Kazerooni. After a performance at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, the rapper was smoking marijuana near a tour bus in July 2007. He had a .40 caliber pistol registered to his manager in a bag located near him. After pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in October 2009, he had to receive a one-year jail sentence. Later the sentence was changed to eight months if he served with good behavior. Now he is out of prison and is already sending out tweets. Rumor has it that he started recording songs on the plane ride home too.

Li’l Wayne is one of the most hard working rappers in the entertainment industry right now. He had a large number of songs that went to become hit singles in the last couple of years. He was sentenced in jail recently for having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007.

Even though he’s locked up, he is still blogging. He does this by mailing letters to his website owner and it gets published in a blog format. “During my prison stint, I want my fans to know I love you. I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you,” wrote Li’l Wayne as posted on WeezyThanxYou.com.

In the past Wayne wrote columns for ESPN about sports. He said he will soon start blogging again for the sports website. However he won’t be sending any Twitter or MySpace updates from jail. Wayne is expected to leave prison in a year. [Mashable]

He is communicating with fans through the alias Liltunechi. In his second tweet, he announced a UStream live stream session. During the UStream session he gave a shoutout to Justin Bieber, Bon Jovi, and Taylor Swift. Wayne said he would be proactive with his Twitter account before being sent to jail, so make sure to give him a follow.
