GitHub is now hosting over 2.2 million source code repositories that is being visited by 1.3 million users.  Wired <a href="http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2012/02/github/all/1">has published an article</a> about the origins of the company and service, which includes the story about how Linus Torvalds created Git in 2005 so that anybody can modify their own version of Linux or any software project and then share the changes with anyone else with the touch of a button.  GitHub essentially simplifies the command-line interface associated with Git.</p>

Perhaps Torvalds wants to keep it classy unlike the Apple CEO when <a href="http://www.edibleapple.com/old-school-steve-jobs-flicks-off-ibm/">he flipped off the IBM building</a>.  Sometimes these pictures come back to haunt you many years later.  Another theory is that Linus is <a href="http://gizmodo.com/5388620/linux-legend-loves-some-windows-7">pointing out that only one copy</a> has been sold off the shelf.</p>
