Social Network Lockerz Raises $30 Million
Lockerz is a Seattle-based social network that has raised $30 million in a fresh round of funding. Investors in this round include former Microsoft CFO Greg Maffei and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Lockerz has about 70 employees and the SEC filing associated with the funding indicates that they will raise $45 million. Lockerz was started by former PR executive Kathy Savitt. Lockerz Acquires Photo Sharing App Plixi
Lockerz is a social commerce network company that has acquired photo sharing application Plixi (formerly known as TweetPhoto). The price is unknown. Plixi serves about 1 billion photos per month and they have raised $2.6 million in funding from Qualcomm, Canaan Partners, Anthem Venture Partners, and Eastman Kodak. Based in Seattle, Lockerz has about 18 million members using their service. Plixi will be named Lockerz Photos going forward.
