Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) CEO Lowell McAdam has announced that they are planning to launch family data plans for multiple devices in 2012. This is important for families that have smartphones, tablets, USB modems, etc. and do not want a separate plan for each. “I think in 2012 we will see it,” stated McAdam at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference. “We have been working on this for a couple of years. Getting to one bill and getting to account-level pricing is our goal.” [Fierce Wireless]

Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) CEO Lowell McAdam said that AT&T should be allowed to complete the acquisition of T-Mobile USA for $39 billion.

“That match had to occur,” said McAdam. He warned that the government has no choice but to allow mergers like this unless it can focus on getting telecommunication companies the spectrum they need to operate. “We need to be very thoughtful on what the impacts would be to the overall industry if this is a way to regulate the industry without actually passing regulation.”

“I have taken the position that the AT&T merger with T-Mobile was kind of like gravity,” said McAdam. “It had to occur, because you had a company with a T-Mobile that had the spectrum but didn’t have the capital to build it out. AT&T needed the spectrum, they didn’t have it in order to take care of their customers, and so that match had to occur.”

The Verizon CEO continued by saying that blocking AT&T’s acquisition would harm American consumers. The U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit against AT&T late last month to block the T-Mobile merger.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) plans to acquire Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:TMRK) for $19 per share in a $1.4 billion deal. This is a 35% premium on the closing price of Terremark yesterday. Terremark is an IT services provider that focuses on data storage for large companies and government agencies.

Verizon was already a partner with Terremark. Verizon signed a deal for 25,000 square feet in Terremark’s data centers. Verizon was also selling Terremark’s hosting services. “Cloud computing continues to fundamentally alter the way enterprises procure, deploy and manage IT resources, and this combination helps create a tipping point for ‘everything-as-a-service,’” stated Verizon COO and president Lowell McAdam. “Our collective vision will foster innovation, enhance business processes and dynamically deliver business intelligence and collaboration services to anyone, anywhere and on any device.”

Looks like Verizon Wireless has just one-upped AT&T in terms of data pricing. Verizon Wireless will be offering iPhone buyers unlimited data plans for $30 per month. AT&T charges $30 per month for a 2GB plan. “I’m not going to shoot myself in the foot,” stated Verizon COO Lowel McAdam in an investor meeting. If Verizon did not offer an unlimited plan, there would be a barrier to switch over from AT&T. However this offer will only be temporary so if you really want an unlimited plan, you may want to consider doing that ASAP.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs will most likely appear on stage at the Verizon press event on Tuesday to announce that the iPhone will be coming to the largest mobile telecommunications company in the United States. The Verizon event is taking place in New York City and invitations were sent out just one day after the company had a press event at CES. The Verizon press event at CES did not make any hits about the iPhone coming to their network.

Another rumor is that Apple CEO Steve Jobs will join the stage with Verizon President and COO Lowell McAdam. Yesterday I wrote about how there is a rumor that the iPhone is coming to Verizon and since then The Wall Street Journal confirmed the news. The Wall Street Journal is generally considered to be one of Apple’s controlled leak favorites, so now I believe the rumor is true even more.

Apple may have decided to reject Google Voice, but Verizon Wireless plans to embrace the application. Google and Verizon have an Android partnership and the results of this deal will appear in the next few weeks. The first two Android powered phones will be available on Verizon later this year.

“You either have an open device or not, and this will be open,” stated Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam in a conference call with journalists today.

“In Verizon, somehow, the leadership has decided to embrace a very different philosophy, which works very, very well with the Internet,” added Google CEO Eric Schmidt on the conference call. Verizon and Google started their partnership discussion about 18 months ago. Verizon was the third telecommunications company to launch a phone on the Android operating system. T-Mobile and Sprint were the first two companies. Verizon is the largest wireless carrier based on the number of subscribers.

A source with The Wall Street Journal claims that Sprint should take advantage of having the Palm Pre on their network right now because Verizon Wireless may have the phone on their network by January. Apparently Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam claimed “over the next six months or so you will see devices like the Palm Pre” will be on Verizon’s network.

Sprint is believed to have the exclusive Pre deal until the end of 2009, but is pushing to have it extended. Sprint even broke sales records with the introduction of the Palm Pre. At the launch party of the Pre, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse claimed that the deal is longer than six months.

Both Verizon and AT&T have an interest in carrying Palm’s latest handset so it is definitely in Sprint’s interest to keep offering Palm a nice piece of the pie.
