20 OF THE GEEKIEST CARS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN ON THE INTERNET!

In celebration of our partnership with BBC’s Top Gear show and the Detroit Auto Show which is taking place about 30 miles from the Pulse2 headquarters, I have decided to compile a list of 20 of the geekiest cars that I have seen on the Internet.

20. If The Little Mermaid had a car, then this would be it.
This car was on display at the Burnaby’s Hats off Day Show and Shine in Vancouver. Some people are calling it the hippie cousin of Herbie. There is a fountain on the hood and it is covered in many things related to nature. I’d classify the owner of this vehicle as a “green geek.” Here is a video tour of the Beetle.

19. Organ Car
I don’t know what kind of car was used here originally, but some nerd actually had the time to strip out the original parts and put together a car that can play an organ while you’re driving.

18. Space Invaders Vehicle
Another classic video game lands on a car.

17. The Halo Warthog Vehicle
Unfortunately you won’t be able to shoot at the Master Chief with this hog, but its the closest Halo vehicle I have seen making it to reality.

16. Mad Max V8
The Mad Max V8 Interceptor (Ford Falcon XB GT) was spotted on Google Street View in New South Wales, Australia.

15. Digg License Plate
Kevin Rose is the man and all, but a Digg license plate on a yellow Volkswagen bug deserves to be labeled as one of the geekiest cars on the Internet.

Mazda Motor Corporation has not dabbled much in hybrid technologies.  The Japanese automotive company was interested more in start-stop systems and lighter materials.  Now Mazda and Toyota have formed a partnership on hybrid technology.  Toyota will supply the technology and components to Mazda for hybrid vehicles.  The Toyota and Mazda partnership will result in a hybrid vehicle in 2013.

The control system, motor, and main components that are used in the Toyota Prius will be supplied for a Mazda vehicle.  Mazda plans to sell tens of thousands of hybrid cars.  A hybrid Mazda3 will be the first vehicle to come out of the partnership.  Mazda plans to spend about 98 billion yen ($1.2 billion) on research and development in 2010.  Toyota will be spending about 800 billion yen ($9.9 billion) during the same time period on research and development.

Earlier this month Ford Motor Company announced that they will be investing $500 million in hybrid vehicles.  General Motors will be investing $336 million in a new Michigan facility to build Chevy Volt electric cars.
