According to sources with BoyGeniusReport, Microsoft Office is going to release the Microsoft Office suite for Apple iPad and Android tablets in November of this year. Microsoft had no comment about these rumors. The last time that rumors about Microsoft Office for the iPad came up, Microsoft denied that a leaked photo of the app was not authentic. Microsoft is designing a tablet version of Microsoft Windows and they likely considered not spreading Microsoft Office to other tablets. However it should be in the company’s interest to capitalize on the millions of people that own Apple and Google powered tablets.

Microsoft has redesigned the look and feel of Microsoft Office, including Outlook. The idea is to make their software usable by pen and mouse. Microsoft prepared a tile-based “Metro” user interface code-named Moorea too. This makes it easier for users to navigate to documents and pictures. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer himself confirmed that the new Office will feature a Metro style this past September.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has launched a plug-in that resolves sync conflicts between Microsoft Office and Google Docs. The plugin is called Cloud Connect and it is available for free of charge. When you edit a document in Microsoft Word, it will automatically sync it to Google Docs every time you hit Save. I think that this is an awesome feature.

I am a hardcore Microsoft Office user and a hardcore Google user. Combining the two only makes it more advantageous for me because I have been the victim of losing documents due to viruses or accidentally deleting the file. This plugin supports Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Demand for this plugin was in such high demand that they could not accept any more volunteers for testing it out. The plugin will work on Office 2003, Office 2007, and Office 2010.

For collaboration purposes, multiple people can work on the document and it will sync to Google Docs also. Google Docs will save each version of the revision so you can backtrack if you don’t like a change that a co-worker made too. Cloud Connect was created through Google’s acquisition of DocVerse.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has hit a major web milestone. Microsoft has surpassed 20 million users for Office Web Apps, which was released this past summer. Office Web Apps include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Google created Google Docs & Spreadsheets three years ago and they offered similar services called Document, Spreadsheet, and Presentation. Google Docs was free and was even tied to Gmail accounts. Google Docs & Spreadsheets has about 25 million users so Microsoft is catching up at a rapid pace for the office-services-on-the-web market.

Microsoft Office Web Apps may also be downloaded to the desktop and can be used with Microsoft Office too. This is different from Google Docs, which only works when being online.

Recently Google announced that they are developing a new operating system called Chrome OS. And then Microsoft said that the new version of Office will have major cloud support. Late last month, Microsoft and Yahoo! signed a search deal that would give Yahoo! additional revenue and Microsoft the exclusive rights to power Yahoo!’s search engine with their own.

Clearly Google is not happy with this deal. This is why the Mountain View based search engine company decided to step up their marketing efforts against Microsoft Office. Google’s campaign is called Going Google.

Google will be releasing several advertisements about why around 3,000 organizations that are signing up for Google Apps every day. On the billboards, there will be a new message about Google Apps shown every day for a month.

The billboard ads will be placed on four major U.S. highways. Those highways are the 101 in Northern California, the West Side Highway in New York, the Mass Pike in Boston, and Ike in Chicago.

Google is also encouraging users on Google Apps to tweet their stories about using the service with the #gonegoogle hashtag.

The subject line of the virus was “Here is that document you asked for … don’t show anyone else;-)” and it contained an infected file called LIST.doc. The document contained passwords to 80 pornographic websites. The virus spread through Microsoft Word 97, Word 2000, Excel 97, Excel 2000, Excel 2003, Outlook 97, and Outlook 98.

There were about four variations of the virus. Smith was sentenced 20 months in prison and was charged $5,000. Smith was also told to stay clear of computer networks and the Internet without court authorization.
