Android is Top Smartphone OS but Apple is Top Manufacturer

New data from Nielsen shows that Android rules the OS market with 39% of the smartphone market, but that Apple is currently the #1 smartphone manufacturer, selling 28% of the devices. Struggling RIM’s BlackBerry OS only accounts for 20% of the market, and Windows Mobile comes in at a paltry 9%. [Nielsen]

AmazonFresh Expands Browsing Options, But Not Their Delivery Area

Consumers can now order groceries on their phones through AmazonFresh’s mobile app—if they have a Microsoft Windows Phone and live in the Seattle area. The specifics aren’t as surprising as they seem; as GeekWire notes, Seattle is home to a lot of Windows Phones because Seattle is home to more than 40,000 Microsoft employees.  The app was developed by Metia/Seattle and is available in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Amazon Fresh was launched in Seattle about four years ago, delivering fresh groceries throughout the Seattle Area.

YouTube Mobile Application For WinMo Gets Even Faster


YouTube works great on the iPhone, but it seems to be not as easy to use through their mobile site (m.youtube.com) when using Windows Mobile phones.  However there is now an app you can download for WinMo on the Mobile YouTube site and supposedly it is supposed to be a lot faster now.

While making the app faster, YouTube has been able to increase the quality of the videos.  Below is a video demo of the new app in use.  Other features that have been improved on the new YouTube mobile application is easier video viewing, improved WiFi streaming, and support for more mobile devices.

HTC Maple Smartphone Arriving In The U.S. Around April

High Tech Computer (HTC) has developed a new phone called the HTC Maple.  Its going to hit the streets in the U.S. next month.  The Maple looks very similar to a BlackBerry and it has a QWERTY keypad.  The HTC Maple will have the TouchFLO 3D touchscreen navigation software as part of the phone.  The phone will run on Windows Mobile.

HTC doesn’t have any plans on launching the HTC Magic phone anytime soon.  The HTC Magic is also known as the G2 since Google Android will be on the smartphone.  The Magic will be powered by Vodafone in the U.K. and in Spain.
