Microsoft Responds To Google’s Demand To Shut Down YouTube App For Windows Phone 8

Google is not happy about the way that the YouTube app was designed on Windows Phone 8.  This is why Google sent Microsoft a cease-and-desist letter demanding that Microsoft withdraws their redesigned YouTube app for Windows Phone 8 because it violates their Terms of Service.  The Terms of Service says that the Microsoft YouTube app violation has to do with the way that ads are being blocked and how the app allows videos to be downloaded.

The CoPilot GPS App Is Coming To Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8

ALK Technologies is bringing the popular CoPilot GPS application to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.  This is a big deal for Microsoft because the app has been downloaded many times already on Android and iOS.  The CoPilot app has speed limit warnings and local search through Google, Yelp, and Wikipedia.

Samsung ATIV Odyssey To Go On Sale At Verizon In A Few Weeks

Samsung Electronics said that the ATIV Odyssey (pictured below) will be going on sale at Verizon Wireless in the next several weeks.  This is going to be Samsung’s first Windows Phone 8 device in the U.S.  Verizon Wireless sells other Windows Phone 8 devices like the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Nokia Lumia 822.

HTC Decides Not To Make A Large Screen Windows Phone 8 Device

HTC has abandoned their plan to create a Windows Phone 8 handset with a screen that is larger than the 4.3-inch 8X device.  HTC believes that it would not be able to compete against high resolution devices like the Android based Droid DNA phone.  HTC decided against designing the device because the screen technology would be obsolete before they could manage to put the device out for sale.

Microsoft Reports 100% Increase In Developer Revenue Since Windows Phone 8 Launch

Microsoft Senior Director of the Windows Phone Apps Team Todd Brix has announced that Windows Phone app downloads and developer revenue has more than doubled since Windows Phone 8 arrived in November.  Todd Brix tweeted “If you build it, they will come. 100%+ increase in WP developer revenue & app downloads since WP8 launch in Nov. #wpdev, #windowsPhone.”  I’m assuming that he is talking about one year’s worth of growth.  This article will be updated once there is some clarification.

AT&T To Sell The Nokia Lumia 920 For $49.99 On Black Friday

If you have been wanting to get your hands on a Windows Phone device this holiday season, you are in luck because AT&T is selling the Nokia Lumia 920 for a great price according to UberGizmo.  It will be selling for $49.99 with a 2 year contract on Black Friday.  This deal will be running from November 23rd to November 25th as long as suppliers are available.

One of the key features in the launch of Windows Phone 8 was NFC (near-field communication).  NFC means that small packets of data can be shared by holding Windows Phone 8 devices back to back… Data such as URLs, contacts data, etc.  This same feature is built in newer Android devices.  AndroidCentral has created this video of the Windows Phone based HTC 8X bouncing data back-and-forth with the Android-based Samsung Galaxy Nexus.  As of right now file transfers are not working between the two different as they did not have luck with photos.
