Nokia Corporation (NOK) Reportedly Sold Over 8 Million Lumias Last Quarter

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) has reportedly sold over a record 8 million Lumias last quarter, according to The Wall Street Journal.  This is more than double what they sold in the same quarter in 2012 and more than their previous record of 7.4 million in Q2 2013.

Nokia Releases A Native YouTube Upload App For Windows Phone Before Google and Microsoft

Nokia Corporation has released a mobile application for YouTube for Windows Phone devices.  Microsoft and Google had a volatile relationship in terms of the release of a YouTube application.  Since YouTube did not create a native Windows Phone application, Microsoft created one.  Microsoft’s YouTube app allowed users to download videos from the website.  So Google sent them a take down notice.  Google did not stop YouTube from creating a new YouTube Upload application though.

will be arriving on Verizon Windows Phone 8 devices first.  Halo: Spartan Assault will cost $6.99 when it arrives on the Windows Phone store.  In the game, players complete mission as Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis.  People that play the Halo 4 on Xbox 360 can earn additional experience points for their Spartan Career by playing through Halo: Spartan Assault.  The Halo: Spartan Assault can be played on the Nokia Lumia 928, Nokia Lumia 822, Windows Phone 8X by HTC and Samsung ATIV Odyssey from Verizon Wireless.

Microsoft Responds To Google’s Demand To Shut Down YouTube App For Windows Phone 8

Google is not happy about the way that the YouTube app was designed on Windows Phone 8.  This is why Google sent Microsoft a cease-and-desist letter demanding that Microsoft withdraws their redesigned YouTube app for Windows Phone 8 because it violates their Terms of Service.  The Terms of Service says that the Microsoft YouTube app violation has to do with the way that ads are being blocked and how the app allows videos to be downloaded.

The CoPilot GPS App Is Coming To Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8

ALK Technologies is bringing the popular CoPilot GPS application to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.  This is a big deal for Microsoft because the app has been downloaded many times already on Android and iOS.  The CoPilot app has speed limit warnings and local search through Google, Yelp, and Wikipedia.

Samsung ATIV Odyssey To Go On Sale At Verizon In A Few Weeks

Samsung Electronics said that the ATIV Odyssey (pictured below) will be going on sale at Verizon Wireless in the next several weeks.  This is going to be Samsung’s first Windows Phone 8 device in the U.S.  Verizon Wireless sells other Windows Phone 8 devices like the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Nokia Lumia 822.
