Angry Birds Cartoon Is Coming This Spring

Angry Birds Sequel “Bad Piggies” Coming September 27th


Rovio is launching a sequel to Angry Birds called “Bad Piggies.”  The sequel will be coming to iOS, Android, and the Mac App Store on September 27th.   In the new game, Rovio will no longer use the slingshot to fling the birds.  They will be using new mechanics.  “There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story?” stated Rovio CEO Mikael Hed. “Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes.”  The game will be rolled out to Windows Phone and Windows 8 shortly after the September 27th release.

Rovio has released their first financial figures this past week. Rovio is still debating whether or not to go public sometime. “This is a decision of Rovio’s owners if Rovio will file for IPO, when it would be and in what market,” stated Rovio CEO Mikael Hed. “These kind of decisions have not been made.”

Angry Birds Sees 500 Million Downloads


Rovio’s Angry Birds has reached a major milestone. The company has hit 500 million downloads in under 2 years since the game launched. Angry Birds is a mobile game where players uses a slingshot to throw birds at pigs that stole their eggs. Angry Birds has stayed at the top of the charts since they launched for the Apple iPhone on December 11, 2009.
