Flipboard first started out on the iPad three years ago as the first tablet-only personal magazine.  This application aggregated news feeds from across the web and turned it into a swipe able layout.  Flipboard has launched an iPhone app, an Android app, and is now working on a Windows 8 app.  Flipboard is now launching on the desktop.

Flipboard is a popular news reading mobile application that has been updated to allow readers curate content from multiple sources.  Known as Flipboard 2.0, the update also has a “+” button so that readers can save/share stories.  This new feature is also available as a bookmarklet on the web known as “Flip It,” which can be found at https://share.flipboard.com/.

Flipboard CEO Mike McCue Steps Down From Twitter Board

Flipboard co-founder and CEO Mike McCue announced that he has stepped down from the Twitter board of directors.  “To the @Twitter team: it was amazing to be part of the board. You’re truly changing the world. Thanks @ev @jack @dick [actually should be @dickc] for the opportunity,” tweeted McCue.   “Thanks for the time, enthusiasm, and passion you’ve brought to everything happening here. Remember the slide you showed me in 2009?!”

Confirmed: Flipboard Raises $50 Million At A $200 Million Valuation


Flipboard CEO Mike McCue has confirmed that the company has raised $50 million at a $200 million valuation. Insight Venture Partners led this round of funding. “We’re obviously thrilled, because we think it confirms our focus that people want a beautifully designed way to interact with content and to share it,” stated McCue. “And there is a lot more to come–on a scale of one to 10, we’re just at a two or three.”

Social Media Reading App Company Flipboard Raising Funding At $200 Million Valuation


Social media reading application company Flipboard is raising funding that would give them a $200 million valuation according to sources with AllThingsD. The valuation is subject to change. Flipboard was co-founded by Mike McCue and former Apple iPhone engineer Evan Doll. When Flipboard launched in January, they had raised $10.5 million in VC funding from Kleiner Perkins, Index Centures, Jack Dorsey, Dustin Moskovitz, Ron Conway, Ashton Kutcher, and Peter Chernin. Twitter Is Now Worth $3.7 Billion After Raising $200 Million

Twitter, the micro-blogging service that about 8% of American adults in the U.S. have used, has raised $200 million in funding. This gives the company a $3.7 billion valuation. Kleiner Perkins was the lead investor in this round according to an AllThingsD source.
