MuleSoft is a startup that can connect SaaS and enterprise applications to the cloud.  The company has raised $37 million led by New Enterprise Associates.  Salesforce.com, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, SAP Ventures, and Bay Partners also participated in this round.  Mulesoft has raised a total of $81 million.

Dell Paying $700 Million In Cash To Acquire Force10 Networks


Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) is acquiring Force10 Networks Inc. for $700 million in cash. Force10 is a high-speed Ethernet networking equipment company that was planning to go the IPO route.

Web Organizer Company Evernote Raises $50 Million


Evernote is a company that encourages you to save your ideas and anything you find interesting on the web. The company has raised $50 million in a new round of funding led by Sequoia Capital. Morgenthaler Ventures also participated in this round of funding. Roelof Botha of Sequoia will be joining the board of directors as a result of the funding round.

Apple Acquires Mobile Virtual Assistant App Company Siri


Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has acquired virtual assistant mobile application company Siri. Siri is essentially a “getting-things-done” application. You just press the green button that says “Say It” and it brings up a solution to your problem. For example, if you say “I’m looking for an Italian restaurant in San Jose,” the application will pull up information about the Italian restaurants in that area. You can also say you are looking for a table for two and it will use OpenTable to confirm a reservation.

LendingClub Raises $24.5M In Series C


Lending Club has raised $24.5 million in Series C funding from Foundation Capital, Morgenthaler Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, and Canaan Partners.  The company now has a total of $52.7 million in funding.  The additional funding will be used to advance their existing platform which allows lenders and borrowers to avoid the middleman (banks) for investing among peers.  This round of funding will also be used for launching new products, marketing, and improving customer service. Virtual Personal Assistant Siri Raises $15.5 Million

Siri is a startup that utilizes speech-to-text and searches for what you want it to through voice commands. They call it a virtual personal assistant (VPA). The company raised $15.5 million in its second round of funding from Menlo Ventures and Morgenthaler Ventures.

For example you could tell the device that you want to see a movie and it will find tickets prices and showtimes. Or you can call a cab when you are out of town. Previously Siri raised $8.5 million in funding. The company has not officially launched its product yet.

Evernote Raises $10 Million In Series B

Evernote is an online note-taking service that works on the web and mobile devices. This morning the company plans to announce a $10 million Series B round of funding, giving them over $16 million in total funding. The lead investor was Morgenthaler Ventures. Evernote makes money from paid subscribers. The company has close to 2 million users which is double what they had last year. All of the funding will be going towards the product including new platforms and new language support.
