GoDaddy.com has been at the forefront of controversy when they showed their support for the Stop Online Copyright Act (SOPA), but changed their mind after a call-to-action campaign launched from social news website Reddit.com. Users on Reddit asked the community to transfer domain names from GoDaddy.com to other domain name host companies on December 29th. GoDaddy started to panic and tried to convince their customers to stay by retracting their public support of SOPA and actually calling customers to convince them in staying. However Namecheap.com said that GoDaddy may have done something illegal to maintain their customers.
