Groupon has acquired mobile payments company Kima Labs and geolocation technology company Hyperpublic. Kima Labs is known for building the mobile barcode reading app called Barcode Hero and mobile payment app TapBuy. Groupon acquired a New York City based startup company called Hyperpublic, which is a geolocation service with layers of information on it like deals and events.

Visual.ly is an infographics design company that has raised $2 million in seed funding. The investors in this round includes Crosslink Capital, SoftTech, 500 Startups, Kapor Capital, Giza Ventures, Naval Ravikant, Mark Goines, Josh James, etc. Visual.ly had about 26,000 users sign up as part of their beta. Over 300,000 infographics have been created and they receive about one million pageviews per month. Some of the companies that Visual.ly works with include BuzzFeed, AskMen, CNNMoney, GOOD, NASDAQ, Skype, the Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic. Visual.ly plans on using the funding for building their development team and hire additional data visualization specialists.

Movieclips.com is an online movie clips search engine website that launched in 2009. It has over 20,000 different clips across libraries from 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Universal Pictures. Miniclips has raised $7 million in funding led by MK Capital. Shasta Ventures, First Round Capital, Richmond Park Partners, Jeff Clavier, Naval Ravikant, Jeff Kearl, Tom McInerney, Allen DeBevoise and Gordon Rubenstein also participated in this round.

Listia is a website where people trade in their stuff for credits and receive trade it in for other stuff. Listia raised $1.75 million in a round of funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, SV Angel, Founder Collective, High Line Venture Partners, Max Levchin, Naval Ravikant, Alex Zubillage, and James Hong.

Video and messaging company Tinychat was initially known for creating chat-rooms on the fly. The company has raised $1.5 million in funding in the form of a convertible note from some high-profile investors. Topguest is a mobile check-in loyalty service that was founded five months ago. The service has raised $2 million in Series A funding and has added Peter Thiel as an advisor. The investors in this round of funding include Founders Fund, Ron Conway, Keith Rabois, Jeff Clavier, and Naval Ravikant. Topguest is also exiting beta today.

Movieclips.com has raised $3 million in Series A from Shasta Ventures, First Round Capital, and several angel investors. MovieClips.com stores popular clips from movies launched a new service called Movieclips Mashups. Movieclips Mashups lets you create a montage of two minute movie clips.

OtherInbox is a startup based in Austin, Texas that has just raised $1.5 million in funding from angel investors Dave McClure, Naval Ravikant, and the law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
