Postmates is an on-demand delivery startup that has received $16 million in Series B funding led by Spark Capital. Spark venture partner Nabeel Hyatt will be joining the board of directors at the company. Other investors that participated in this round include SoftTechVC, Matrix Partners, Scott Banister, Naval Ravikant, Russel Simmons, Thomas Korte, Shervin Pishevar, Dave Morin, and David Sacks.

Crowdtilt is a startup that wants to help crowdfund everyday activities like parties, gifts, and trips. Today Crowdtilt has announced a $23 million second round of funding led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from SV Angel, Sean Parker, Matt Mullenweg, Oliver Jung, DCM, Felicis Ventures, Naval Ravikant, Alexis Ohanian, Elad Gil, and several other investors. Crowdtilt will be using the funding to hire employees and focus on international expansion.

AngelList Raising Large Funding Round At A $150M Valuation

AngelList is a social network that connects startups with investors.  The company is rumored to be working on a round that would value them at $150 million.  Investors in this round are believed to be Google Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz.  This will be the company’s first outside financing according to TechCrunch.  AngelList was founded by Naval Ravikant and Babak Nivi.

Scan is a QR code application company that has raised over $1.7 million in funding from Menlo Ventures, Google Ventures, Charles River Ventures, Start Fund, Social + Capital Partnership, Transmedia Capital, Ludlow Ventures, and angel investors Ariel Poler, Naval Ravikant, Jim Pallotta, and Troy Carter. Scan is based in Provo, Utah.

Groupon Acquires Kima Labs and Hyperpublic


Groupon has acquired mobile payments company Kima Labs and geolocation technology company Hyperpublic. Kima Labs is known for building the mobile barcode reading app called Barcode Hero and mobile payment app TapBuy. Groupon acquired a New York City based startup company called Hyperpublic, which is a geolocation service with layers of information on it like deals and events.

Infographics Design Company Visual.ly Raises $2 Million


Visual.ly is an infographics design company that has raised $2 million in seed funding. The investors in this round includes Crosslink Capital, SoftTech, 500 Startups, Kapor Capital, Giza Ventures, Naval Ravikant, Mark Goines, Josh James, etc. Visual.ly had about 26,000 users sign up as part of their beta. Over 300,000 infographics have been created and they receive about one million pageviews per month. Some of the companies that Visual.ly works with include BuzzFeed, AskMen, CNNMoney, GOOD, NASDAQ, Skype, the Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic. Visual.ly plans on using the funding for building their development team and hire additional data visualization specialists.

Movieclips.com Raises $7 Million And Signs A Deal With YouTube


Movieclips.com is an online movie clips search engine website that launched in 2009. It has over 20,000 different clips across libraries from 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Universal Pictures. Miniclips has raised $7 million in funding led by MK Capital. Shasta Ventures, First Round Capital, Richmond Park Partners, Jeff Clavier, Naval Ravikant, Jeff Kearl, Tom McInerney, Allen DeBevoise and Gordon Rubenstein also participated in this round.
