In Japan, Nintendo has released a black Wii but Americans were not given the same option.  However Nintendo is willing to meet us halfway by allowing us to have white Wiis have black Wiimotes.  The black Wiimotes and nunchucks will be available this holiday season.  Nintendo will also have a pink and white DSi added to the line-up on September 13.

Facebook photo upload support has been added to the Nintendo DSi.  The feature was actually added on August 3rd.  The feature was added after a system update.  Facebook integration was added in the camera/photo gallery module.  Your Facebook account can be set up by selecting the icon next to the Star, Shamrock, and Heart.

Tapping the Facebook icon causes a pop-up to appear.  There is a Facebook login page that appears in the pop-up.  Once you enter the information the first time, it remains auto-filled after that.  After selecting a photo, you confirm that you want to upload it.  After uploading the photo, it appears in an album called “Photos from Nintendo DSi” on Facebook.

The Nintendo DSi has a built in digital camera, but the resolution isn’t that great and there isn’t much of a zoom either.  The digital camera is 0.3 megapixels.  Nyko invented a solution to enhance the zoom camera on the DSi.  Nyko’s Zoom Case is a plastic cover that slips over the DSi.  An 8X-optical-zoom lens is screwed to the camera.  After attaching the external lens, the camera can take 640×460 pixel images.  Although there is no final price announced for the Zoom Case, it is rumored that the cost is between $20 and $40.

If you’re bored of the generic colors that the Wii and the DSi comes in, Nintendo is getting ready to provide additional options.  More specifically, there will be a black-colored Wii and a red-colored DSi shipping from Japan soon.

The black Wii is code-named KURO Wii and it has been a rumor for about two years.  The black Wii will cost about ¥25,000 ($255) and the red DSi will cost ¥18,900 ($192).  The two new colors for the consoles will be available in Japan on August 1st.

The black Wii will have similar colored Wiimotes, nunchucks, and classic controllers.  Availability in the U.S. is still yet to be determined.

On Sunday the Nintendo DSi officially arrived on U.S. soil and it hit the European markets on the Friday before that. How did it do in the U.K. on the opening weekend? It made a killing. It became the fourth fastest-selling console in U.K. history after the PS3, Wii, and PSP. This is not bad for being a follow-up console.

In celebration of the DSi launching in the U.S., Nintendo hired Sean Kenney to build a large Lego sculpture of the console complete with stylus slot and power connector. The Nintendo DSi Lego sculpture is taller than the size of an average human.

If you live or plan to visit New York City, you can see the DSi on display at the Nintendo World Store at Rockefeller Center.

As announced in late February, the Nintendo DSi has arrived today.  The new Nintendo DSi is intended to be a social and entertainment console.  The DSi has two screens with two cameras, a mic, and a way to easily share content with other DSi users.

The DSi will sell for $170 per console.  It began selling in Europe this past Friday and was available in Japan before that.  Since the DS franchise launched, Nintendo sold over 100 million units.

For those of you who are wondering what the “i” stands for.  It is because of the “I” personal aspect and with two cameras, the console has its own “eye” on things.

When you buy a Nintendo DSi console, you will automatically be awarded 1,000 Nintendo DSi Points.  Users can buy games and other items on the Nintendo DSi Shop.  The offer is on the table until October 2009.

As many of you are well aware, the Nintendo DSi will be making its way to the United States on April 5.  But why is there an “i” in the new version and why is it lowercase?  Does Nintedo want to capitalize on the success of the lower case “i” that Apple has been having?  Nope.

Nintendo stated that the “i” is symbolic to the subject of “I” and the personal aspect.  Since there is also two cameras in the DSi, Nintendo gives the system its own “eye” on things.  This came directly from a Nintendo representative.

The Nintendo DSi is the third version of the Nintendo DS handheld.  The handheld was first introduced on October 2, 2008 at the Nintendo Conference in Tokyo.  Although the DSi is currently only available in Japan, it plans on arriving to the U.S. on April 5, 2009.  The MSRP will be $169.99 and will be available in Blue and Black as pictured above.

“Ever since the arrival of the first Game Boy, consumers worldwide have turned to Nintendo for their portable gaming,” stated Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Nintendo DSi builds on Nintendo’s commitment to bringing fun and creative entertainment to everyone, and will allow consumers to personalize and share their very own experiences.”

The Nintendo DSi comes with two cameras.  One camera is in the external body and the second camera appears when flipping the device.  The Nintendo DSi is the first gaming console that has an interactive camera with 10 different “lenses” that lets you manipulate photos.

The Nintendo DSi has a built-in Sound application that comes with a voice recorder and music player.  Players can listen to their music devices while playing the DSi.  There are several audio filters that control recorded voice and music while playing games on the DSi.
