Google Wallet To Expand To 10 More Sprint Devices This Year


Google is planning on expanding the tap-and-pay system Google Wallet to ten more Sprint devices this year including the upcoming LG Viper. Google Wallet VP Osama Bedier made the announcement at Mobile World Congress 2012. Google is discussing the service with several other device manufacturers, banks, and financial services.

PayPal Exec Osama Bedier Resigns To Join Google


Osama Bedier, an executive at eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) subsidiary PayPal has resigned after being at the company for 8 years. He is now taking a job at Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG). The new head of the platform team is Matthew Mengerink. Bedier was the VP of platform at PayPal and worked on global payments and mobile at the company. Mengerink helped build the architecture, infrastructure, payments development, core technologies, international development, customer quality and engineering services teams according to AllThingsD.

Why PayPal Blocked The Wikileaks Account


The PayPal account for Wikileaks was shut-down and people were wondering whether the U.S. government pressured the eBay-owned finance service to do it. While on stage, PayPal VP of Platform Osama Bedier indicated that the government did pressure the company to do it. Bedier said that PayPal’s decision was influenced by the State Department deeming Wikileaks as illegal in a letter sent on November 27th. Offstage, Bedier did an interview where he clarified that the State Department did not directly talk to PayPal. The letter was sent from the government to Wikileaks. [TechCrunch]
